This document provides instructions for two Thanksgiving crafts - a handprint turkey poem and a coffee filter turkey. For the poem, students make a handprint and the teacher writes a poem to go with it. For the coffee filter turkey, students color coffee filters with markers, then cut out and glue together turkey body parts made from construction paper. The document encourages teachers to have students craft and learn while getting into the Thanksgiving spirit.

Thank you for downloading this fun turkey resource created

The handprint poem can be printed on white or colored paper for a great gift for parents around the Thanksgiving holiday. Use paint to make the handprint, or you can trace the outside of the students’ hands and let them color. Laminate the card for lasting memories.
The coffee filter turkey craft can be copied on colored
construction paper and cut out by the students. Before students assemble the turkeys, they need to color a coffee filter with markers. Believe it or not, scribbling and fun designs work best! Once students have their coffee filter full of color, spray the coffee filters with a squirt bottle- one squirt usually works for my class! After the “tailfeather” coffee filters dry, students cut out the body and head of the turkey. They also cut out the legs and beaks. Use a gluestick to assemble. Students can draw eyes on their turkey or you can glue googly-eyes for extra cute turkeys.
Happy crafting and happy learning.
