Institute’s Directions for Objectives of Department / Cell (Draft)

Academic Year 2023-24

Following are the objectives for Academic Session 2023-24 to be attained mandatorily by
respective stakeholders:

A. Curricular, Co-curricular & Extra-Curricular Engagements:

1) All heads of the departments to carry out Appraisal & SWOC analysis of each faculty
member, & accordingly to make specific plans for his/her professional development.
Individual objectives for the academic year 2023-24 are to be set by every faculty
member based on his/her appraisal and SWOC analysis in keeping with the institute’s
objectives.
2) All departments to conduct at least one national-level faculty development program
FDP/ Short Term Training Program (STTP) of duration 1 week (Minimum 30 Hrs) for
the faculty members (with minimum 50% participation from other institutes). A
minimum of 8 FDPs will be conducted in the institute in the year 2023-24.
3) All Departments to conduct 2 skill development programs (Minimum duration 30
Hrs.) for the students. A minimum of 16 skill development programs will be
conducted in the institute in the year 2023-24.
4) All departments to conduct at least 2 Campus Recruitment Training (CRT) Programs
like Aptitude Preparation, Aptitude Tests, Resume writing seminars, Group
discussions, Mock interviews, etc.
5) All departments are to conduct a minimum of 3 technical events in the year 2023-24.
A minimum of 18 technical events are to be conducted in the institute in the year
2023-24.
6) Basic Science and Humanities department is to conduct at least 1 induction program
for first-year students. All departments are to conduct at least 1 induction program for
Third-semester students and 1 orientation program for fifth-semester students.
7) Departments should motivate students to improve utilization of the Library, Language
lab, e-resources, Computing & other labs. The utilization of all the labs by faculty
members and students is to be audited at the department level.
8) Department must involve SRC, CR & other students in Department / Institute-level
committees. All the departments to enhance students’ engagement in extra-curricular
and co-curricular activities. Every student must be part of a technical, social, or
recreational / hobby club at the institute.
9) Departments should implement and highlight the best practices of the department.
10) Departments are to take the initiatives to have at least one Industry-sponsored lab/
Project lab/ Center of Competence (which can grow into a Center of Excellence in the
future).
11) All the departments to ensure punctuality and quality in academic conduction. Also,
ensure overall discipline in the institute.
12) All the HoDs through their respective Board of Studies to include courses or topics
related to Sunrise Technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data
Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, and Automation. Heads of Departments to
ensure faculty members upgrade their skills in these emerging areas.
13) Students’ Counseling for technical and career development should be done at the
department level.
14) Industry Institute Interaction (III) Cell to conduct a minimum of 4 outreach programs
in collaboration with industry.
15) Research and Development cell to conduct minimum of 4 programs on Intellectual
Property Rights (IPR) like an awareness program on filing Copyrights, filing Patents,
and writing technical papers. R & D Cell to organize an International conference in the
Institute in collaboration with the departments.
16) Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan (UBA) cell to conduct minimum of 4 programs for the local
community.
17) Student’s Affair and Development Cell (SADC) should conduct following activities
in the year 2023-24:
a. A minimum of 10 programs under NSS such as tree plantation, Blood donation
camp, cleanliness drive, etc. in the year 2023-24. A minimum of such 4 activities
are to be conducted for the local community.
b. A minimum of 20 cultural programs and a minimum of 20 sports competitions in
the year 2023-24.
c. A minimum of 10 programs on National Integration, Indian culture, and
celebration of International and national days like Independence day, Republic
day, Yoga day , Indian Constitution Day, Engineer’s Day etc. in the year 2023-24.
d. A minimum of 2 programs on gender equity in the year 2023-24.
18) Training and Placement Cell to conduct a minimum of 4 CRT programs and 2
Assessment Tests in the year 2023-24.
19) Students’ psychological counseling should be done at the institute level for enhancing
the overall performance of the student.
20) Each student and faculty member to complete one or more online programs NPTEL
Swayam/ Google/ edX/ Coursera etc. (preferably NPTEL Swayam). A minimum of 50
MOOC certifications by faculty members and 200 MOOC certifications by the
students are to be completed in the year 2023-24.
21) Faculty members in collaboration with Career Development Cell to offer special
technical training and/or employability enhancement training, and/or training to the
students for GATE, CAT, and other competitive exams. Each department to encourage
minimum 10 % of students to go for higher studies.
22) Faculty members to design and offer online courses on topics beyond the syllabus,
extended syllabus and latest trends and technologies.
23) Faculty members to take efforts for preparing students for intercollegiate competitions
at the national/ regional level in projects, research, innovation, and product
development.
24) Every faculty member has to attend at least 1 FDP/ STTP preferably organized by the
Top 200 NIRF Ranked Institutes.

B. Quality Enhancement:

1) To strengthen the collaboration with Institutes of Repute like IITs, IIITs and NITs as
well as foreign universities with the college (with respect to guest sessions, project
guidance, collaborative training, and consultancy) through the initiatives by all the
departments and coordination by Industry-Institute-Interaction cell of the institute.
2) HR Department to take initiative for conducting a minimum of two faculty / staff
development programs for Human Resource Development at the Institute level.
3) Admission Cell to take initiative for improving the quality of admissions to UG and
also encourage OMS admissions for better cosmopolitan culture in the institute.
Departments are to take initiative for improving the quantity and quality of admissions
to PG courses. All departments are to provide support to the admission cell for
improving the First Year & Direct Second Year (DSY) admissions.
4) Departments are to prepare a Year wise road map for developing the academic,
holistic, and professional competence of the students. It should also include the
identification of weak students and a plan to address their issues.
5) All departments are to conduct at least 5 industry expert lectures and 2 academic
expert lectures in the year 2023-24.
6) Each faculty has to introduce pre-defined innovations in his / her teaching using ICT
tools, experiential learning, tinkering labs, etc. Audit and evaluation of Teaching-
Learning to be carried out by outside experts.
7) Faculty members to seek opportunities to deliver lectures at other premier institutions
or industries.
8) Faculty members to seek opportunities to become a member of BoS / Academic
Council / Advisory Bodies of the University or other Premier Institute or Industry.

C. Industry, Alumni, and Parent Connect:

1) All departments to organize a minimum of 2 local industry visits with predefined


objectives every year and 1 outstation Industrial Tour. Evaluation of every industrial
visit should be done at the department.
2) Department Heads must ensure that the faculty members should undergo a minimum
of 15 Days of training in the industry relevant to their research interest and expert
domain.
3) Industry Institute Interaction cell to conduct Mass MoU Signing Program for students’
projects / internships / faculty industry training / consultancy with prominent
industries (minimum 10) in the region.
4) Special emphasis must be made on enhancing the quality of internships & projects
with appropriate internship & project identification, guidance & evaluation
mechanism. A special mentoring team (consisting of alumni, industry experts, and
experts from academia) may be formed at the department level for effective
implementation.
5) Strengthen Alumni Connect (100%) through institute level & department level
programs & initiatives like Alumni Newsletter at the institute, Alumni meetings at the
Institute, and Department level.
6) Alumni Cell needs to develop different modules for alumni fund generation, alumni -
student relations. Alumni Cell in association with departments should also encourage
the alumni to involve in students’ projects, internships, and also in placements.
7) Invite / involve alumni to conduct seminars / webinars / talks on sunrise technologies
like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security and
Robotics & Automation, IOT. All departments are to conduct minimum 6 Alumni
interactions.
8) Alumni Cell to conduct minimum 2 local alumni meetings and 2 outstation alumni
meetings in the year 2023-24.
9) Alumni Cell to decide the mechanism & conduct at least one telephonic interaction
with past 3 years alumni preferably in December to strengthen the connect & get
current status regarding placements and higher studies.
10) All departments to conduct at least 1 Parent teacher interaction every semester.
D. Research, Consultancy, Incubation and Placements:
1) All departments are required to publish papers equal to their faculty strength in UGC
Care / Scopus / Web of Science indexed journals.
2) All departments are required to publish at least 1 book and 2 book chapters.
3) All departments to identify two projects which can be patented & file minimum of 2
patents and 2 copyrights.
4) All departments to prepare a detailed plan of getting consultancy of minimum Rs. 5.00
lacs.
5) All departments to take efforts for getting funded projects of a minimum of Rs. 5.00
lacs.
6) Center of Excellence - R labs to undertake training, consultancy, project development,
and especially product development related to cutting-edge technologies.
7) All departments should focus on 2-3 areas in the respective fields based on the utility
of the topic and the strength of the department. One of the areas out of these may lead
to the establishment of a Center of Competence.
8) To develop an incubation center for startups under the incubation and entrepreneurship
development cell of the Institute. Apply for Government funding under Atal
Innovation Mission (for cutting-edge technology training & consultancy).
9) Training and Placement Cell in association with all departments to give more
emphasis on campus placements & national-level online placement opportunities. The
target set for CE, IT & ETC is 75% placement among enrolled students (85% among
eligible and willing students) and the target set for EE, ME & Civil is 55% placement
among enrolled students (65% among eligible and willing students).
10) Faculty members to make efforts to be selected as reviewers of the technical papers
for the reputed International Conferences or International Journals.

E. Institute Development & Image Building

1) All departments to set a target of footfall of minimum 500 people in the campus in the
academic year 2023-24.
2) Admission, Media & Public Relations cell to target footfall of minimum of 5000.
3) At least 10,000 visitors should visit our campus in 2023-24 in systematically planned
events for:
a. School Students / Teachers
b. Jr. College Students / Teachers
c. Polytechnic Students / Teachers
d. Parents
e. Industry People
f. General Public in Society
