14. What is the scope and opportunities for Mechanical engineering graduates?
Mechanical engineers design, analyze, program and supervise in the fields of
manufacturing, design, robotics, product development, industrial engineering, thermal
engineering, energy and many more. Engineers are also employed in technical sales,
marketing and support positions for business and scientific equipment/software.
Thus, there are tremendous job opportunities for Mechanical graduates and post
graduates not only in core fields (manufacturing, air conditioning, oil & gas, design,
industrial, automobile, robotics, energy etc) but also in non-core areas (software,
service industry, and marketing). The ‘Make in India’ initiative by government of India
has lead to significant growth in the fields related to mechanical engineering.
Being the most generalized branch the Mechanical graduates enjoy the benefit of both
the worlds and have an edge in comparison with other branches. Besides there are
opening in Govt. and public sector as well either directly or through competitive exams
like GATE. All B.Tech students at NCU appear for GATE exam. and with good score
can find entry in these jobs. The placement record for Mechanical students has been
nearly 100% for all eligible students for last so many years.
Many of our students also opt for MBA or for higher studies abroad or in India at
reputed institutions. Many of our passed out students are pursuing their MS/PhD from
USA, UK, Australia, Canada and other countries in addition to M.Tech and MBA from
reputed institutes of India.
In addition to the above many of our students go for IES / Civil Services and
Engineers in Navy/Army/Air force, and thus serve the country in this manner.
