Vic Armstrong is not afraid of anything. He falls out of windows, jumps off bridges, rides motorcycles
through fire and drives into walls. He is a stunt double (that is he does the dangerous scenes instead of the
principal actor) in films and does things that most of us think are crazy. He was Harrison Ford’s double in all
three Indiana Jones movies and he worked in many James Bond films, too. His most famous stunt was when
he jumped from a horse onto a German tank in one of the Indiana Jones films. Movie viewers voted this ‘one
of the ten best stunts of all time’. He broke many bones during his career, but he says that’s part of the job. He
now spends more time as a stunt director, directing other stuntmen. In 2002 he worked in Gangs of New York
with one of his favourite directors, Martin Scorsese. Vic says it was ‘great fun’. Now, after forty years of stunt
work, the man without fear feels the same way. Vic still thinks it’s the best job in the world: ‘I enjoy my work
now as much as when I started,’ he says. ‘And now, as a stunt director, I tell other people to fall and jump’.
