COURSE OUTLINE
Course Objectives:

1 Introduction to logical reasoning: Human Intelligence and Intelligence Tests, What are
IQ and EQ? What is Logic and Logical reasoning? Significant of Logical Reasoning.
2 What is an argument? Premises and Conclusion. Types of Reasoning; Deductive, Inductive and
Abductive reasoning, Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning, Numerical, Analytic and Spatial
Reasoning.
3 Deductive Reasoning; Formal reasoning- statements and conclusion, Arguments with
Propositions and sentences
4 Deductive Reasoning; Immediate Inference with Oppositions of propositions, Logical relations
and truth functions of Contrary, Sub Contrary, Sub-alternate & Contradictory
5 Deductive Reasoning; Immediate Inference with Eduction, Conversion, Obversion,
Contraposition &Inversion.( The formulation of a new proposition by the interchange of the
subject and the predicate of an original proposition and/or by the use or removal of negatives.)
