With any EAM application, you will need to be able to track and monitor the various activities within
your organization. The EAM Start Center or dashboard provides a way to get a pulse on these
activities instantaneously. When you log into EAM, the system will display the Start Center page. In
addition to the Inbox and KPI Section, there is a Chart Section, which will show query results in
graphical form. All three of these sections are based on setup query codes. Depending on your
system privileges, you can modify the three sections including adding/deleting entries and the order
in which the entries are displayed.
Start center
Infor EAM’s Start Center is a robust dashboard that provides visual and graphical representation of
EAM data. The Start Center has three sections: Inbox Section, KPI Section, and Chart Section.
There is a Chart section which displays charts (graphs and pie charts) representing the result of
queries created for a specific chart.
Inbox section
The Inbox Section displays activities or inbox entries on the Start Center page. Activities can by
segregated using the Folder dropdown where there are three folders (Operations, Maintenance, and
Management). Additional folder can be added by the user. The Inbox Section has an inbox icon that
can be setup to change color based on range parameters in Inbox Setup. There are three icon
control buttons: Personalize, Save as Default, and Refresh.
Icon buttons
The following icon buttons are available.
• Personalize
Invokes Personalize Your Inbox popup where you can select what Inboxes to display, the order
they appear, assigned folder and if they should be refreshed automatically
• Save as Default
Saves layout of Inbox Section including what Folder to display as default
• Refresh
Refreshes the data in the Inbox Section
KPI section
KPIs or Key Performance Indicators are a great tool to get a snapshot of how your organization is
doing. You could measure the number of PMs Overdue, the number of Open Work Orders or the
maintenance cost spent for the current month.
The KPI Section creates dynamic, real-time KPIs Type and score. Instead of having the static icon
being displayed, the user can setup different KPI Types of Donut, Number, Image, and Single Bar to
represent their KPI values through the KPI Setup screens. A Resize KPI slider has been added to
the section, which will scale the KPIs to fit the KPI Section screen. The user can personalize the KPI
section and save their changes. There are three Icon control buttons and a Resize Slider available to
help manage and customize KPIs.
Icon buttons
The following icon buttons are available.
• Personalize
Invokes Personalize Your KPIs popup where you can select what KPIs to display, the order they
appear and if they should be refreshed automatically.
• Save as Default
Saves layout of KPI Section including size of the KPIs
• Refresh
Refreshes the data in the KPI Section
Chart section
The Chart Section provides the user to ability to see, in graph and pie formats, the status of a query
created for a specific Chart Type. The Charts are Organization specific and allows for further
selection, as created in Chart Setup. Using Chart Controls, the user can select different filtering and
display parameters like Chart Types, Chart Period, “Group By” and Show Year/Year. The “Group By”
is determined by what is selected in the Chart Type dropdown. For example, a Chart Type with a
query involving Departments to be selected, the “Group By” label will be set to “Department” with the
associated Department list will be displayed in the dropdown. With the Show Year/Year button
checked, the system will display data from the current year and last years. Otherwise, the system
will display only the current year values in the chart. Pie Charts display the distribution for the “Group
By”. A helpful feature in the Chart Section is that you can hover over the chart and the values will
display.
Chart controls
The Chart Controls area provides the user the ability to select what charts to display in the Start
Center plus filtering and display options.
• Organization
Lookup field of Organizations available to the user
• Chart Type
Dropdown field listing available Charts specific to the Organization selected
• Chart Period

• Group By

Icon buttons
There are icon buttons for Save as Default and Refresh, plus a Collapse (X) button.
• Save as Default

• Refresh
Refreshes the data in the Chart Section
• Collapse
Collapses the Chart Controls area and expands the chart display area
Setup
The three sections on the Start Center (Inbox, KPI, and Chart) and Queries can be setup by
navigating to the applicable setup screen under the Administrative menu. The following are the
typical paths to enter the setup screens:
• Administration > Start Center Setup > Queries
• Administration > Start Center Setup > Inbox Setup
• Administration > Start Center Setup > KPI Setup
• Administration > Start Center Setup > Chart Setup
Queries
The Queries screen allows the user to add and modify existing SQL statements that can be used for
the Inbox, KPI, and Chart Sections of the Start Center. A general understanding of how to create
SQL statements is needed to ensure they work and return the values desired. Once a SQL
statement is properly created, the user can designate using check boxes if it will be available for
Inbox, KPI, and Chart Sections. When setting up and using queries, expect to receive only one value
or count and not a text or group of values.
Inbox setup

Chart instructions
To ensure that graphs are created and displayed properly, SQL Statements and associated fields
need to be formatted in a particularly way. A Chart Instructions area has been created that details
how the SQL Statements or codes need to be formatted.
Field 1 must be the four digit year. SQL Statement EXTRACT(YEAR FROM
Text evt_reported) WOYear
Field 2 must be the two digit month. SQL Statement EXTRACT(MONTH FROM
Text evt_reported) WOMonth
Field 3 must be the Description of the SQL Statement R5O7.O7GET_DESC('planguage',
code being grouped by. For example, Text 'MRC', evt_mrc, '', '')
if counting work orders by WODeptDesc
department, this field would be the
description of the department.
Field 4 must be the value being SQL Statement COALESCE(COUNT(evt_code),0)
charted. Field 4 can be a number or Text WOCount
monetary amount.
The Group By Text field is used to Group By Text Department
give a label to the values being
returned in Field 3. This label will be
displayed next to a selection field on
the Start Center screen.
The Value Type field is used to define Value Type Number
Field 4 as either a number or a
monetary amount. The only effect is
the currency will be displayed on the
hover text of the chart on the Start
Center screen.
