8/6/23 Blaming Others For Our Sin Genesis 3

 Taking personal responsibility for our shortcomings is not something many will do.
 We are to resist the devil and draw near to God.
 We are provided a five step method to help us overcome our problems.
James 4:7-8

1. It only takes one to ruin everything.

 God made Adam the perfect mate, brought her to him and provided the perfect
environment for them to live.
 God gave Adam strict instructions while he lived in the Garden.
 The devil saw an opportunity to defy God with Eve.
 We have not sinned until we give in to the temptation.
Genesis 2:21-25, 3:1-7, 39:1-23

2. Not many these days are willing to accept responsibility for their actions.
 We prefer to blame others instead of accepting responsibility for our actions.
 Knowing good and evil is not the pleasurable experience that the serpent had led
Adam and Eve to believe it would be.
 God questions Adam to help him realize his disobedience.
 Adam implied that being "alone" would not have been such a bad thing after all.
Genesis 2:18,23, 3:5-13

3. Actions have consequences!

 God address the serpent first, then Adam and Eve with judgment.
 For the serpent, the idea of eating dust likely signifies humiliation or shame.
 To the woman, she will bear children with intense pain and suffering and have a
desire for her husband.
 To Adam, he is told that all of his life he will struggle to scratch a living from the
ground.
 Adam and Eve are banished from the Garden forever!
