1. Define febrile antigens.

 A term use for bacterial suspension representative of organism that is
pathologic to human which can induce fever in human. It is a test that
determine the presence of antibodies toward antigen or organism that
can induce fever

2. Why is the Proteus organisms used as a source of antigen in place of Rickettsia in the
Weil-Felix test?
 Weil Felix test is a non-specific test in which we use and we use proteus
organism because they have cross reaction mechanism with Rickettsia as
they posses the same antigenic determinant.

3. Enumerate the antigens used in this exercise. Give their diagnostic significance.
 Antigen suspension S. typhi O = ↑ = acute/recent fever
 Antigen suspension S. typhi H = ↑ = indicate past infection w/ fever
 Antigen suspension S. typhi BH = ↑ = past infection w/ fever
 Antigen suspension S. typhi AH = ↑ = past infection
 Proteus ox-2 = infection of typhus fever cause by P.vulgaris
 Proteus ox-19 = infection of typhus fever cause by P.vulgaris
 Proteus ox-k = infection of typhus fever cause by kingsburry strain
