Diagnostic Test
● Pelvic exam
● transvaginal ultrasound
● Lab test
Medication
● Terbutaline (Brethine) - Prevent premature Labor;
0.25 (mg) orally; monitor and report signs of CNS
toxicity
● Magnesium sulfate - Encourage muscles relaxation;
4-6g over 15-30 mins, orally; monitor and report
signs of MagSul toxicity
Complications
● Uterine Rupture
● Internal bleeding
● Laceration
● Infection
Treatment
● Cervical cerclage
-Mcdonalds procedure
-Shirodkar
● Progesterone supplements
● Repeated Ultrasound
Signs & Symptoms
● Painless vaginal bleeding or pinkish discharge
● Rupture of membranes and passage of amniotic fluid
● Sensation of pelvic pressure
NCP:
Assessment
Diagnosis : Anxiety related to impending loss of pregnancy as evidenced by premature dilation of the
cervix.
Planning: After nursing intervention the patient will be relax and reduced anxiety
Intervention:
Evaluation
● Patient would appear relaxed and report that anxiety has been reduced
● Verbalize awareness of feelings of anxiety
● Enumerate ways to deal with anxiety
● Use support system effectively
