Life in highschool vs Life in college

Life in high school and life in college are two very different experiences. In high school,

students are often guided through their daily routines, whereas in college, students are given

more freedom to manage their own schedules. In this essay, we will compare and contrast the

two experiences.

One of the biggest differences between high school and college is the level of independence

that students are given. In high school, students are generally expected to attend classes and

complete assignments, but their schedules are often structured around a set of guidelines.

This is not the case in college, where students are given more autonomy to choose their own

class schedules and decide which assignments to prioritise.

Another major difference between high school and college is the level of academic rigour.

High school courses are often designed to provide a broad overview of a subject, whereas

college courses are designed to provide a deep understanding of a particular topic. This

means that college students are expected to take on more challenging coursework and engage

in more complex problem-solving than high school students.

Along with the increased academic rigour, college students are also expected to take on more

responsibility for their own learning. In high school, teachers often provide significant

guidance and support to help students succeed, but in college, students must learn to be more
self-directed. This means that college students must be proactive in seeking out help when

they need it, whether that means seeking out additional resources or reaching out to

professors for assistance.

Another major difference between high school and college is the social environment. In high

school, students are often surrounded by a relatively homogeneous group of peers, whereas in

college, students are exposed to a much more diverse array of people. This can be both

exciting and challenging, as students must navigate new social dynamics and learn to interact

with people from a variety of backgrounds.

In terms of extracurricular activities and clubs, college students have many more options than

high school students. While high schools may offer a limited number of clubs and sports

teams, colleges typically have a wide range of options available. This can provide students

with opportunities to explore new interests and develop new skills, whether that means

joining a debate team, participating in a community service project, or playing on a sports

team.

One final difference between high school and college is the level of stress that students

experience. While high school can be stressful for many students, college can be even more

challenging. College students must balance a wide range of responsibilities, including

coursework, social activities, and sometimes even part-time jobs. This can be a significant

source of stress, but it can also be an opportunity for students to develop important

time-management and stress-management skills.

In conclusion, life in high school and life in college are two very different experiences. While

high school provides students with a structured environment and significant support from

teachers and staff, college requires students to take on more responsibility for their own

learning and provides them with more autonomy to manage their own schedules. College also

offers students a wider range of academic and extracurricular opportunities, but with that

comes increased academic rigour and the potential for increased stress. Ultimately, both high

school and college provide students with unique opportunities to learn and grow, and the

experiences that students have in each setting can have a significant impact on their future

success.

The Causes of Traffic Accidents in Cambodia

The World Health Organization reported that traffic accidents killed 1.3 million people

worldwide in 2021. Cambodia is also one of the victims of these horrific accidents as they are

the major problem that result in severe injuries or facilities. At least five people in Cambodia

die each day due to traffic accidents; some suffered from the crash’s effects which equaled to

an average of around 5.4 people die everyday. Poor and disadvantaged Cambodians are

frequently the victims of traffic accidents, and around 90% of accident casualties are either

pedestrians or riders of cars, motorcycles, or bicycles. According to the Road Traffic Safety

Department's report issued on Jan. 2, 49 people's lives were taken by traffic accidents only on

the first two days of 2022 in Phnom Penh, Preah Sihanouk, Kampong Thom, Stung Treng,

and Kratie provinces. The reason that traffic accidents have occurred in Cambodia are due to

drivers behaviour and car malfunction.

The first obvious and serious factors that contribute to traffic accidents in Cambodia are

driver behaviour such as drunk driving, excessive speeding, and distracted driving. Even

though It’s a common knowledge, driving after drinking is prohibited; some people still carry

out the activity which leads to a terrific accident that might cause serious injury, or even

fatality to the driver and pedestrian on the road. The other point is unnecessary speed used, a

small number of people speeding just to save money on gasoline; a lot of teenagers use high

speed in order to flex on their friend on how fast they can go ,or sometimes even racing each

other and just to demonstrate how skillful they are at controlling their vehicle. Moreover,

distracted driving is caused by people daydreaming, using their cellphone, and also navigator.

According to the driving law, it’s completely illegal to use electronic devices while driving on

the roads.

Aside from drunk drivers, vehicle malfunction is also one of the leading causes of traffic

accidents. According to the data on traffic accidents that happened in 2021, speeding was the

leading cause of accidents (34%), followed by drunk drivers and mechanical malfunctions

(3%). Even though the human behaviour on the road contributed significantly to the total

number of accidents, vehicle malfunction should not be overlooked. Traditionally, Cambodia

tended to follow the criteria of low price over quality, and some vehicles didn’t pass the

standard of checking process. As a result, those low price vehicles were likely to have

operations such as a broken brake or gearbox which eventually lead to traffic accidents.

According to official customs estimates, 6,000 used cars enter the local market each month.

Many of those vehicles are likely to be imported from the United States, whose largest export

to Cambodia is cars—some new, some old, and some remodelled. This clearly demonstrated

that Cambodia was covered with used cars or motorcycles with low quality or no standard

checks that had such a high chance of abnormal functioning due to oldness, technical error, or

lastly, irresponsible drivers.

As was previously said, traffic accidents are the main cause of fatalities in Cambodia,

claiming lives as well as national earnings, property, morale, and development initiatives.

Moreover, all these problems are caused by humans, such as human behaviour and vehicle

malfunctions. All levels of society should receive education on land traffic laws; secondary

schools should create their curriculum; all drivers should learn to drive before operating a

vehicle; and engineering and new modern technologies should be studied, organised, and

researched to increase road safety and manage traffic. Additionally, road accidents in

Cambodia cannot be decreased without the active participation of the nation's populace. For

Cambodia to grow and develop into a magnificent and fantastic country, both the government

and the people of Cambodia must be concerned and actively involved.

Is social media an effective platform for communication?

Social media is a computer-based technology that facilitates the sharing of ideas,

thoughts, and information through virtual networks and communities. Nowadays, people are

living in a digital era, where most people are relying on technology to handle their daily

tasks. Social media is one of the technologies that the majority of people depend on to do

their business, self-study and even communicate with friends from far away. Has social

media become a helpful platform for facilitating communication? Social media is a great tool

for people to communicate for three main reasons.

Firstly, sharing information on the internet is the quickest way to inform people about

upcoming events. Not only can people receive the news sooner and faster before it gets

published officially, but they can also follow up about famous people’s daily activities. Many

artists are likely to resort to social media to share their piece of work that they have created
themself such as song, poem, artistic masterpiece and food. Moreover, social media can also

help civilians know about the emergency case such as tsunami, earthquake, and other natural

disasters that the government has announced about it to civilians by posting it on social media

like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook; so they can share about it or prepare to deal with the

disaster in time. Therefore, social media can help us keep up with the news easily no matter if

it is about famous people or about natural disasters.

Secondly, social media is the fastest and most efficient platform for business

communication. Nowadays, people often use social media to communicate online for

business rather than meeting head to head because not only it saves them time from

travelling, saves them a lot of money, but also provides them safety. Moreover, social media

makes it easier for business dealers to connect to their customers better than before by

creating their own business websites, pages or channels for their customers to check what

they want and also be able to promote or introduce their products by posting or paying for

advertisements on social media. For example, like Facebook and Youtube that have more

than 100 million people around the world using it. Consequently, social media is the most

efficient platform for most successful businessmen because it can help their business take off

easily.

Lastly, Long-distance couples can interact more with one another and live life

together thanks to social media. No matter how far apart they are, they can still participate in

their partner's daily behaviour and activities, fostering a close relationship. Family members

have access to each other's social media posts. It makes it possible for them to bond over

common interests. Additionally, this will affect daily life. It keeps family members close

through common hobbies, interests, and other activities. Daily communication is also made
possible by face-to-face video chatting and texting platforms. In a word, social media is a

really useful platform if you want to connect and talk to people from everywhere around the

world.

It appears that some people say that using social media for communication all the time

could result in fewer real-life interactions between humans. This claim seems to have some

validity. However, as stated previously, social media is a platform that has its primary

responsibility to spread news, knowledge, and information. People can still maintain a

healthy relationship with their surroundings by going out and exploring the environment.

Also, the lack of human interaction is due to having no social skills or a mental illness. So it

is important to know that the causes of people to physically interact less is not entirely the

social media's fault, but it is also the individual that has an impact on it.

In conclusion, there are many useful advantages to using social media platforms to

communicate and disseminate information. This makes people’s lives much easier and more

convenient. It also helps developing countries much faster and more efficiently. Although I

find social media to be a great convenient means of communication for information sharing,

doing business, and long distance there are some drawbacks as well. Spending more time on

social media can increase the risk of cyberbullying, social anxiety, depression, addiction, the

dissemination of fake news, and a direct impact on brand reputation.
