ENVIRONMENTAL PRINCIPLE NO.

“Nature is Beautiful and

We are the Stewards of
God’s Creation”
Learning Objectives
In this module, the CWTS trainees will:
• make a personal definition of STEWARDSHIP;
• enumerate concrete ways to become
stewards of God’s creation; and
• make a reflection paper on the call of
stewardship.
“ For where your treasure is,
there your heart will also be.”
Matthew 6:21
“Among all creatures,
humans are the only ones
made by God’s image and have
been given the right to have
dominion over all
HIS creations..”
DEFINITION OF
STEWARDSHIP

• a CARETAKER, who looks after and cares for the world

• a GOD GIVEN RESPONSIBILITY to manage or control the Earth

• CAREFULLY LOOKING after something for the real owner

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAYS?
“ Let us make man… and let them have DOMINION…
over all the earth… GENESIS 1:26

“ God created man… and said,…”fill the Earth and subdue it, rule
over… every living thing… GENESIS 1:27-29

“ You appointed him RULER over everything you made;

you placed him over all creation.” PSALM 8:3-6

“ When you lay siege to city… do not destroy the trees...” DEUTERONOMY 20:19
Does DOMINION and RULER
means we can do what we like?

DOMINION…
Means “KINGSHIP” which means to rule wisely;

NO... being responsible for God’s world.

Doing what we like has done massive situations

that lead to shortage of fossil fuels, extinction of
plants and animals and the heavy pollution.
Reflection of the Day:

Did GOD make a mistake in

giving humans the
responsibility of looking
after the Earth? Of looking
after his masterpiece?
CHRISTIAN EXAMPLES OF STEWARDSHIP

Who can volunteer to be a
STEWARD?

EVERYONE...
Young and old are eligible to become stewards.
We find STEWARDSHIP difficult because...
We are taught by our culture to CONSUME.
The idol of our culture is MONEY.

IDOLATRY is rampant…
And idolatry is ADULTERY.

We are uncomfortable with “money talk.”

We choose to live out of a sense of scarcity,

instead of an appreciation of God’s abundance.

YOU
