Ans1: (3 + 2√5)2 = 33 + 2(3) + (2 √5) + (2√5)2
= 9 + 12√5 + 20
= 29 + 12√5

Ans2: b)

Ans3: c)

Ans4: b)
Let the other number be x
Given, 4/7 * x = -2/5
Multiplying by the reciprocal of 4/7, that is 7/4 on both sides.
= 7/4 * 4/7 * x = 7/4 * -2/5
= x = -14/20

Ans5: We will start to convert days into hours which are 8 * 24 = 192 hours
Now, add the remaining hours i.e. = 192 + 9 = 201 hours
We know that 1 hour = 60 minutes
Then 201 * 60 = 12,060 minutes

Ans6: c)
The area of a parallelogram for the given figure is SR * SM, as the formula for the area of the
parallelogram is base * height.

Ans7: d)
Let length (l) = 3x and breadth (b) = 2x
Area 216 m2 is given.
Therefore 216 = 3x * 2x
X2 = 36
X=6
Hence, (l) = 3x = 18 m
(b) = 2x = 12 m
Therefore perimeter = 2(l + b)
= 2(18 + 12)
= 60

Ans8 : From the given figure, the diameter of the circle cut = 28 cm and so its radius is
= 28 / 2 = 14 cm
Area of the circle cut = ∏r2
= 22/7 * 14 * 14
2
= 616 cm

Ans9:
Total numbers of families = 1500

(i) Number of families having 2 girls = 475

Probability = Number of families having 2 girls/Total number of families

= 475/1500 = 19/60

(ii) Number of families having 1 girl = 814

Probability = Number of families having 1 girl/Total number of families

= 814/1500 = 407/750

(iii) Number of families having 0 girls = 211

Probability = Number of families having 0 girls/Total number of families

= 211/1500

Sum of the probability = (19/60)+(407/750)+(211/1500)

= (475+814+211)/1500 = 1500/1500 = 1

Yes, the sum of these probabilities is 1.

Ans10:
i) X2 + 2x – 15 = 0
(x + 5)(x - 3) = 0
X = -5 or 3
ii) (2xy)3 + (3a)3
Using formula a3 + b3 = (a+b)(a2-ab+b2)
(2xy + 3a)(4x2y2- 6xya + 9a2)
iii) (ab + bc + ca)2
= (ab)2 + (bc) 2 + (ca) 2 + 2a (ab)(bc) + 2(bc)(ca) + 2 (ab)(ca)
= a2b2 + b2c2 + c2a2 + 2(ac)b2 + 2(ab)(c) 2 + 2(bc)(a) 2

Ans11:
In first condition –
S.P. of a tap-recorder = Rs 605
Gain = 10%
C.P. = 100 / (100 + Gain%) * S.P.
= 100 / (100 + 10) * 605
= 100 * 605 /110
C.P. = Rs 10 * 55 = Rs 550
In second condition
C.P. = Rs 550, Gain 16%
S.P. = (100 + gain %) / 100 *C.P.
= (100 + 16) / 100 * 550
= 116 * 550 / 100 = 58 * 11 = Rs 638
Tap-recorder should be sold at Rs 638.

Ans 12:
Total number of books = 90,000
Therefore, 10/100 * 90,000 = 9000
The total numbers of mathematic books available in the library are 9000.

Ans 13 A)
1) 3 (x + 10) = 5x
3x + 30 = 5x
5x – 3x = 30
X = 15
2) 80 + 2x + 3x = 705
80 + 5x = 705
X = 125
B)
1) -2x + 3y = 12
Comparing the given equation with ax + by + c = 0
We get a = -2, b = 3, and c = -12
3) 0x + y – 5 = 0
Comparing the given equation with ax + by + c = 0
We get a = 0, b = 1 and c = -5

Ans 14:
a) 18 students
b) 3 students
c) 14 students

Ans 15:
a) The sum of the two rational number = 9/20
And one of the numbers = 2/5
The other rational number = 9/20 – 2/5
L.C.M. of 20 and 5 = 20
= 9 * 1 / 20*1 – 2*4/ 5*4
= 9 * 20 – 8 / 20
= 9-8 / 20 = 1/20
b) The additive inverse of -4 / -13 or (4/3) = -4 / 13

Ans 16:
Differnece of 73 – 37 is to be divided by 9.
Let ab = 73 and ba = 37
A = 7 and b = 3
The quotient of 73 – 37 (i.e. ab - bc) when divided by 7 is a – b i.e. 7 – 3 = 4
(ab – ba / a = a - b)

Ans 17:
200 m : 5 km
200m : 5000 m (1 km = 1000 m)
200 / 5000 = 200 ÷ 200 / 5000 ÷ 200 (HCF of 200, 5000 = 200)
1 / 25 = 1 : 25

Ans 18:
Number of terms = 5
Mean = 10
Total numbers = 10 * 5 = 50 …………….. (1)
But sum of numbers = 3 + 8 + 11 + a + 16 = 38 + a ………..(2)
From (1) and (2)
28 + a = 50
a = 50 – 38 = 12

Ans 19:
Number of shares to be bought = 250
Rs 15 shares at a discount of Rs 1.50
Nominal value of the share is Rs 15 and its market value = Rs 15 – rs 1.50 = Rs 13.50
Money required to buy 1 share = rs 13.50
So, money required to buy 250 shares = 250 * Rs 13.50 = Rs 3375

Ans 20:
In rectangle ABCD, BC = 14 cm
Radius of each circle = 14 / 2 = 7cm
Length of rectangle = (7 + 7 + 7 ) * 2 = 42 cm
Now, area of rectangle = l * b
= 42 * 14
= 588 cm2
And area of 3 circles = 3 * πr2
= 3 * 22/7 * 7 = 462 cm2
Area of shaded portion = 588 – 462 = 126 cm2
