First of all, AirAsia was founded in 1993 by the Malaysian government as the second airline

to the country's main airline MAS (Malaysian Airlines) and AirAsia began operating after
three years on November 18, 1996. In the following 5 years, AirAsia failed every year to
bring profit, as a result of which AirAsia had a debt amounting to about MYR40 million in

airline for the people that empower guests to fly. Tony Fernandes as Chief Executive Officer is
the highest-ranking person in AirAsia and also best known for co-founding low-cost carrier
AirAsia with Datuk Kamarudin Meranun and democratising air travel in the region. Fernandes
and Datuk Kamarudin famously bought the ailing airline for a token MYR1 approximately
USD0.25 and MYR40 million in debt, turning it around within two years and growing it from a
Malaysian domestic carrier into Asia’s largest low-cost carrier by passengers carried. CEOs are

AirAsia's success today cannot stand alone without a strong team. Tony Fernandes alone is not
enough and there needs to be a team below that helps him like Bo Lingam as the secretary
responsible for implementing the concept of low cost in operations and procurement. Since
then, he has held several key positions including Senior Manager of Purchasing and Supply,
Regional Director of Guest Services, and Group President & Chief Operating Officer, where he
oversaw AirAsia's operations in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines driving
improvements and establishing processes new airline in the region.

to provide leadership and vision towards increasing shareholder value and growth of AirAsia
while delivering our sustainability commitments. Besides, Manages the Group's business and
affairs ensuring operational excellence and strong governance and Executes AirAsia turnaround
plan, Develops and spearheads high-level business and growth strategies in line with AirAsia
vision and mission, as approved by the Board. It same with AirAsia value to present One
