In Essay 1 I learned how to organize my essay structure properly in order to help the flow of the
reading process cohesive and orderly. I used this in my second essay more effectively by beginning
by planning out what paragraphs I would write and in a certain order. In Essay 1 the prompt required
a different way of writing which called for research and various reading. While in Essay 2 there was
not as much research required due to the fact that it was a visual text analysis which is based on a
specific image. Therefore, I did not have to apply those steps as much as it was applied in the
previous essay.
The tool I was able to take away from this experience was prominently the tool of deep analysis.
This helped me immensely in finding topics to write about in Essay 2; this tool can be utilized in
future/current courses to allow myself to have a deeper and better understanding of what is being
taught. For example, I can use this tool in my current History 1302 course in which the professor
often gives us photos to analyze. Most of what I learned from this experience I found to be useful,
except texture analysis. This one process I find will not be useful to me in future courses simply
because it is very specific to this essay. My peers when reviewing my essay drafts noted that my
writing can become confusing, and the objective can become lost in the writing process. This was a
