Title: Radioactivity

Aim: To stimulate radioactivity


Materials and Apparatus:
- 100 coins
- 1 container

Method:
1. Place 120 coins into a container.
2. Shake the container.
3. Throw all the coins onto a table.
4. Remove all the coins that landed on ‘tails’.
5. Count all the coins remaining.
6. Repeat until there are no coins remaining.

Data Analysis:
1. Plot a graph of number of heads remaining versus the number of throws.
2. From the graph, interpolate at 50 heads, 25 heads and 12.5 heads to get the corresponding
number of elapsed throws for each
3. Find the 1st, 2nd and 3rd half-lives (measured in throws) from these elapsed throw numbers
4. Find the average half-life (measured in throws)
