Place eyes between rounds 14 and 15, Leaving 11 holes between them. 1st eye is placed before
before the 1st increase between rounds 14 and 15. Count 11 holes after the first eye and place
the 2nd eye. The 2nd eye will be before the 2nd inc. If you want the sunken eye look, do not
place the backs until round 24.

Now for the eyes. Stuff the head well. Cut a long piece of yarn and remove the eyes. Place the
needle in the hole where the first eye was and thread the needle into a hole next to the eye
hole. Go back and forth between each eye hole repeating the process from the first eye. Pull
slightly on the yarn after going through each hole. Do this about 3 times on each side until you
reach the look you want. Follow the pictures for help. There is also a youtube video I have for
extra help on this process.

To place the backs of the eyes you will need to remove most of the stuffing to place the
washers on the eyes then re stuff it.

Assembly

Head and Body:

1. Pin the arms onto the side of the body in a forward angle. There are no particular
rounds I place these on. I try to judge by what I think looks best.
2. Sew the arms onto the body.

Sweet Oddity Art 12

Legs:
1. Turn the body upside down with the nose facing away from you. Pin the legs on the bottom
of the body approximately between rounds 54 and 55.
2. Sew the legs onto the body.

Nostrils:
1. Mark 4 spots on the face approximately between rounds 19 and 20.
You will want the each nostril pin 2 holes apart. The set of nostril pins approximately 5
holes apart from each other.
2. Thread your needle with a long strand of dark pink yarn. Insert the needle into a hole
on the side of the head. Bring the needle up to a pin and insert into the hole of the next
pin. Repeat this about 2 more times. Repeat for the 2nd nostril. Weave in the tail ends.

Tail:
1. Pin the tail gills onto the sides of the tail. Sew them onto the tail.
2. Pin the tail onto the back of the body. You may need to add more stuffing as you sew.
Sew the tail onto the body.

You can use different eye and nose sizes. You might have to adjust the placements if you
change the sizes.

You can use different hook sizes and weights of yarn. It will just change the size of your axolotl
and you might need to adjust eye and nose placement.

How you stuff matters! The type of stuffing you use, how you stuff, all this matters on how your
axolotl turns out. I prefer Polyfil stuffing but you can use other types.

I painted my own eyes for this doll but you can find some great ones at glasseyesonline.com or
