Pattern Details

Size:
11 inches from foot to top of head with weight 4 yarn and a 3.25 mm hook

Skill Level Needed:


Intermediate- suitable for novice crocheters, requires patience and precisions when assembling
the bee and basic crochet skills.

Materials Needed:
Yarn: Worsted Weight #4, approximately 50g of main color, 25-50g of accent colors
Color A: Yellow, Color B: Purple, Color C: Blue, Color D: Green, Color E: Orange, Color F: Pink,
Color G: Light Blue
Hook Size: D Hook or 3.25 mm
12 mm safety eyes, 14 mm oval nose(https://www.glasseyesonline.com/noses/oval-nose)
Scissors, sewing needle, stitch marker, fiberfill stuffing
Black embroidery thread, white embroidery thread, pipe cleaner(optional), Fabric
marker(Optional)
Abbreviations:
mr= magic ring- crochet single crochet stitches in to the
adjustable loop BLO= back loops only
ch= chain stitch F/O= Fasten off
sc= single crochet stitch inc3= 3 sc in the same stitch
sl= slip stitch
dc= double crochet stitch
inc= increase- make two single crochet stitches in the same stitch
dec=decrease- crochet two stitches together using the decrease method
(4 sc, inc) x 6= repeat the pattern between parentheses 6 times

Notes:
• Do not join rounds unless stated, work in a continuous spiral
• Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round
• All stitches are worked in both loops unless stated otherwise in the pattern

Head:
Crocheted from top of head to bottom
With Color A:
1. Make 6 sc into a magic ring= 6
2. Increase in each st around= 12
3. (sc, inc) x 6= 18
4. sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 5, sc= 24
5. (3 sc, inc) x 6= 30
6. 2 sc, inc, (4 sc, inc) x 5, 2 sc= 36
7. (5 sc, inc) x 6= 42
8. 3 sc, inc, (6 sc, inc) x 5, 3 sc= 48
9-14. sc in each st around
Place eyes between rounds 12 and 13, leaving 10 holes between them. Place nose in between
eyes between rounds 13 and 14. (On page 17, there are pictures for different option noses)
TIP! You may have to adjust the eye placement depending on yarn and hook size you use.
15. 3 sc, dec, (6 sc, dec) x 5, 3 sc= 42
16. (5 sc, dec) x 6= 36
Start stuffing the head
17. 2 sc, dec, (4 sc, dec) x 5, 2 sc= 30

F/O and leave a tail. (the tail does not need to be long)

1. inc in 2nd chain from hook, 3 sc, 4 sc in the last chain, working on the opposite side of the
chain: 3 sc, inc= 14

2. Inc3, 4 sc, inc3, 2 sc, inc3, 5 sc= 20
3. inc x 3, 5 sc, inc3, 4 sc, inc3, 6 sc= 27
Change to Color A:
4. sc, inc x 3, 8 sc, inc3, 6 sc, inc3, 7 sc= 34
5-7. sc in each st around
8. 17 sc, dec x 6, 5 sc= 28
Stuff the legs as you work
9. 16 sc, dec x 4, 4 sc= 24
10. 15 sc, dec x 4, sc= 20
11. 12 sc, dec x 4= 16
Stop stuffing the legs
12. (dec, 6 sc) x 2= 14

Antennaes(Make 2):
Starting with Color B:

5. Dec x 6= 6
Change to Color A:
Do not stuff the antennaes from here on
6-12. sc in each st around
F/O and leave a long tail for sewing

Wings(Make 4):
With Color G:
1. Make 6 sc into a magic ring= 6
2. (inc3, sc) x 3= 12
3. sc, (inc3, 3 sc) x 2, inc3, 2 sc= 18
4. 2 sc, (inc3, 5 sc) x 2, inc3, 3 sc= 24
5. 3 sc, (inc3, 7 sc) x 2, inc3, 4 sc= 30
Do not F/O the 3rd and 4th wings. Place the wings together with the back sides of each of them
facing each other. Start crocheting the wings together with the next round:
6. 4 sc, (inc3, 9 sc) x 2, inc3, 5 sc= 36
F/O and leave a long tail for sewing

*I originally was going to use one gray wing and one blue but decided to change my mind which
is why the 3rd picture is different.*

Crown:
With Color F:
Ch 12, join with a sl st to the 1st chain to make a ring. Make sure not to get your chain twisted
when making a ring.
1-2. sc in each st around
3. (Ch 3, sl st in the 2nd chain from hook, sc in the next chain, sc in the next st on the crown)
Repeat around
(You will have 6 crown points total)
F/O and leave a long tail for sewing

Assembly

Head and Body:


1. Cut a long strand of white embroidery thread. Insert the needle into a hole on the
side of the head. Bring the needle up to a corner on the bottom of the eye. Insert the
needle into a hole around to the top of the eye. Make sure you do not pull the thread
too tightly. Repeat on the 2nd eye and weave in the tails.
2. Sew the head to the body. You may need to add stuffing when you get to the last few
stitches to close.

Antennae:
1. Optional: Cut a piece of pipe cleaner in half. Fold the half in half again and twist.
Insert the pipe cleaner into the lower half of the antenannae. Cut any excess off.
You can choose to stuff them instead.
2. Pin the antennaes onto the head approximately between rounds 6 and 8.
3. Sew the antennaes onto the head.

Arms:
1. Pin the arms to the side of the body approximately between rounds 21 and 22.
2. Sew the arms onto the body in a forward facing angle.

Legs:
1. Turn the body upside down with the front of the face facing away from you.
Pin the legs onto the bottom of the body approximately between rounds 4 and 5.
2. Sew the legs onto the body.

Crown and Stinger:
1. Pin the crown onto the head in between the antennaes. Sew the crown onto the
head.
2. Pin the stinger onto the back of the body approximately between rounds 6 and 8.
Sew the stinger onto the back of the body.

Wings:
1. Bring the tail of the yarn to a corner on the wings. Any corner will work.
2. Pin the wings onto the back of the body approximately between rounds 15 and 16.
3. Sew the wings onto the back of the body only at the one corner and 3 stitches on
each side. Make sure they are sturdy before you weave in the yarn tail.

Cheeks and Eyebrows:
1. Thread your needle with a long strand of black thread. Insert the needle into a spot
on the side of the head and bring the needle up about 4 rounds above the eye.
Insert the needle one round down about 1 stitch away from the first spot to
Embroider your eyebrow. Repeat for the 2nd eyebrow.
2. Embroider a small smile using the same technique.
3. With some actual blush make some cheeks next to the eyes.
4. Optional: With a fabric marker, add some black freckles to the cheeks. You can also
do this with the french knot if wanted. Here is a tutorial on how to do the french knot.

Helpful Tips:
Exact Colors and Brand of Yarn Used:
1. Yellow: I love this yarn Buttercup
2. Purple: Red Heart Lavender
3. Blue: Red Heart Aqua
4. Green: I love this yarn Menthe
5. Orange: I love this yarn Coral
6. Pink: Red Heart Bubblegum
7. Blue: Red Heart Light Blue

You can use different eye and nose sizes. You might have to adjust the placements if you
change the sizes.

You can use different hook sizes and weights of yarn. It will just change the size of your bee and
you might need to adjust eye and nose placement.

How you stuff matters! The type of stuffing you use, how you stuff, all this matters on how your
bee turns out. I prefer Polyfil stuffing but you can use other types.

If you can not find the oval noses, triangle noses work great! They make it so cute! You can
embroider the nose as well! The first picture is of an embroidered nose with purple yarn. The
2nd picture nose is an 18 mm nose. This picture was from a tester named Dawn and Elizabeth.

Additional Information
How to work on the opposite side of the chain:
This is an example picture!

1. Work the indicated amount of stitches across the first side of your chain

2. Turn the chain around and work the indicated amount on the opposite side of the chain
