This crochet carnation flower looks wonderful in a bouquet, and it works up fast

Terminology:
CH = Chain DC = Double Crochet RPT = Repeat
SC = Single Crochet SLST = Slip Stitch ST= Stitch
Size/Gauge:
About 4”W x 3.75”H. Gauge is not necessarily important.
Supplies:
About 20 yds DK weight yarn in two colors (e.g. pink and green). Sample used Yarn
Bee Sweet Delight. Crochet hook size G 4 mm. Yarn needle. Floral tape. Floral wire.
Optional hot glue.

NOTE: All CH 3s at the beginning of a RND count as 1 DC.

FLOWER

With MAIN color, CH 5. SLST to form a ring.

RND 1: CH 3. 15 DC in ring. SLST to first ST. Total = 16 STs.
RND 2: CH 3. DC in same ST. RPT [2 DC in each ST] around. SLST to first ST.
RND 3: CH 3. DC in same ST. RPT [2 DC in each ST] around. SLST to first ST.
RND 4: CH 3. DC in same ST. RPT [2 DC in each ST] around. SLST to first ST.
RND 5: CH 1. SC in same ST. RPT [CH 3, SC in next ST] around. At the end, CH 3, SLST
to first ST. Fasten off and weave in ends.

CALYX

With GREEN color, CH 4. SLST to form a ring.

RND 1: CH 1. 7 SC in ring. SLST to first ST. Total = 7 STs.


RND 2: CH 1. SC in same ST. RPT [2 SC in each ST] around. SLST to first ST.
RNDs 3-7: CH 1. SC in each ST around. SLST to first ST.
RND 8: CH 1. SC in same ST. RPT [CH 3. SC in next ST] around. At the end, CH 3, SLST
to first ST. Fasten off and weave in ends.

FINISH
With a 10” piece of MAIN color yarn and a yarn needle, weave in and out along the
top of RND 2. Pull the yarn to gather the flower into a carnation shape. Tie and
knot it securely. Bend a floral wire in half and insert it into the top part of the
flower and out the bottom section. Insert the wire into the calyx to form the base
part of the carnation. Use floral tape to wrap around the wire to form a stem.
