REQUIRED MATERIALS:

Yarn:
All yarn is worsted weight (4). I use Comfy Worsted Yarn from KnitPicks (Pima Cotton) but any acrylic worsted
yarn will work.
-Yellow: 275yards (2.5 skeins of Dandelion yellow, Comfy Worsted Yarn from Knit Picks),
-Brown: Less than 100yards (1 skein of Hazelnut Comfy Worsted)
-White, Blue and Black: Less than 15yards each
Hooks: 4.25mm & 3.75mm
Sewing needle
Polyester stuffing
Scissors
Gauge: Not necessary

ABBREVIATIONS & TECHNIQUES:

sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
ch - chain
sc2tog – single crochet two together/invisible decrease
ss – slip stitch
Rnd – round
st - stitch(es)
BLO – Back loop

Weave mane/tail hairs – Using the “Latch Wig” method: To hook hair into the head, insert the
hook into a gap between the head stitches and catch the middle of a hair strand. Then, with the
loop of the hair strand on the hook, draw both ends of the strand through the loop.

SEWING AND ASSEMBLY:

Snout/Nostrils:
Position nostrils vertically at either end of snout between Rnd 2 and 3
before stuffing and attaching snout to head. Place top of snout parallel
to Rnd 17 in the middle of the front of face. Lightly stuff and secure into
place with pins before sewing around for correct placement. Position lip
in a “U” shape just below snout.

Eyes:
Sew Pupil and Iris onto white base before sewing onto head. Place the bottom of the eye against
the top edge of snout less than an inch apart. After eyes have been sewn on, sew on eyelids along
the top ridge of eyes and line/embroider a line of brown yarn along the edge of eyelid for
definition. Use excess brown yarn from lining to sew eyebrows 1/2 inch above eyelid 4-5 sc's long.

Ears and Antennae:

Pinch base of ears (Rnd 13 & 14) and sew into place on either side of head
between Rnd 7 and 9 of head. Secure and sew each antenna approximately
0.5 inch from ears, bringing tails of yarn from ears and antenna up to top
of head and trim to length of mane. This will serve as the beginning of
your mane.

Legs:
Secure “arms” approximately 8sc apart on Rnd 42. Secure and attach
remaining two legs on base of giraffe on either side of Round 62.
