In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth

Means that our very lives are a stewardship. We must one day stand before our Creator and give an
account of how we have spent the gift of life we have been given. A worldview based on the Creator
means that life has purpose and meaning beyond random chance.

And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”

God's first reaction is to care about us and what we are going through. He understands our weaknesses
and his heart goes out to us. We see this in the New Testament, where Jesus' healings were often in
response to his compassion for the hurting

You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my
own.

He says to discipline our mind. We are to exercise self-control and stay alert both mentally and
spiritually. This mental discipline requires a concentrated focus on trusting in the Lord to get us to our
final destination, where we will experience the fullness of God’s grace in Jesus Christ.

God is not human, that he should lie,

not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?

Humanity still experiences separation from God through various acts of sin. Despite our irreverent
behavior, the Bible makes clear that God holds to His word. Therefore, all of the Bible’s descriptions of
God’s love, forgiveness, mercy, and grace, are all true. Though the Bible’s text is “God-breathed” and not
“God-written,” we know that God is trustworthy.
