Problem 3: Stock Market Returns

 Analyze the daily returns of a volatile stock. Compare and contrast the mean and median to
determine which better represents the stock's performance, considering the implications for
investment decisions.
In daily returns of volatile stock, let's assume that some days in market indexes and stock
prices move up or higher and other days they move down or lower. In that case and if the mean is
used, there is a possibility that there are outliers that will affect the data value. Therefore, median
is the best to use in this kind of situation even if there are outliers but it doesn't influence the data
values.
Problem 4: Customer Satisfaction Ratings

 Examine customer satisfaction ratings for a product or service. Determine which measure of central
tendency (mean or median) is more appropriate to describe the "typical" customer experience and
how it influences business decisions.
In terms of satisfaction ratings of a customer for a product, the better to use is mean.
Because you need to get all the data or ratings on the product or service so you can know if the
overall ratings are high or low. So it that case will know what or which one you should change or
improve in the product or service to reach the customer satisfactions and also yours. Because when
we use the Median either the ratings are high or low, so it is not balanced.
Problem 5: Exam Scores with Outliers

 You are a teacher grading a class with one student who consistently scores much higher than the
rest. Discuss how the presence of this high-achieving student affects the choice of central tendency
measure and its interpretation.
In this case, the data value of mean and median well affect because there is one student who
consistently scores higher than the rest. When we used mean, the data value will be lower because
there are outliers that can affect the highest score. Moreover, when we use median the data value
will be also lower because there is one student got a higher score than the rest.
Problem 6: Employee Salaries in a Tech Company

 Analyze the salaries of employees in a technology company with a wide range of income levels.
Explain the advantages and disadvantages of using the mean, median, and mode for HR planning
and salary benchmarking.
The advantage of using mean in this case is you will get the average even the range is wide. The
disadvantage is the average is lower because there are some outliers that can affect the data value
or higher income level. The advantage of using median is even having an outlier, it doesn’t affect
the value because we don’t care about the gap. We care about the middle value. The disadvantage
of using median in this case is we can't include all the data because we only need to get the middle
value. The advantage of using mode in this case is we easily analyze the income level by arranging
them from lowest to highest value. The disadvantage is we only care about the frequently occur
value than the rest.
Problem 7: City Temperature Extremes

 Investigate daily temperature data in a city with both cold winters and hot summers. Discuss how
the mean and median are influenced by the seasonal extremes and provide meaningful
interpretations for local climate discussions.
When we compare the temperature cold, winter, and summer, there will be an interval that
can affect the mean and median. For the local climate, example is Philippines. There are two
climates in Philippines. It is the summer and rainy season. In summer, we can use mean to calculate
the average of temperature that occur in a week that can determine if it is very hot or not. In addition,
we can use median to find the middle temperature that occur in a week. In rainy season, we can use
mean to determine the average temperature that occur in a week if it is heavy rainfall or not.
However, we can use median to find out the middle temperature occur in a week to determine if it
is cold or not.
