Arthur Asher Miller was born in october 17th from 1915 in New York.

He was a
recognized and controversial playwright from the 20th century. He and his
family were jewish. He grew up in Manhattan and Brooklyn. He graduate from
high school in 1932 and in 1936 he started working as a psychiatric aide and a
copywriter. He graduate of journalist from the University of Michigan before he
started working. In 1935 he joined the League of American Writers and started
writing. In 1940 his first play was produced. And in 1947 the play “All my sons”
had a lot of succeed. He got divorced and in 1956 he married Marilyn Monroe.
In the 50s decade Miller had some issues with HUAC (House Un-American
Activities Committee) because of a fight he had with an old friend named
Kazan. Miller get mad with him because of a testimony Kazan did at the HUAC.
Because of this, Miller wrote a play called “The Crucible” comparing the HUAC
situation with the Salem witch trials.
A few months later the HUAC denied Miller the US passport and after that, he
was sentenced to jail by the HUAC, but a year later he was realized and told he
had been misled by the chairman or president of the HUAC.
He died in Connecticut in 2005.
