Good morning to the honorable judges, teachers and all my friends.

My name is

me today.

The book I am going to review today that I have read recently is entitled The
Brave Little Puppy by a very famous children’s book author; Enid Blyton. She was an
English children's writer, whose books have been worldwide bestsellers since the 1930s,
selling more than 600 million copies. Her books are still enormously popular and have
been translated into ninety languages. As of June 2019, Blyton held 4th place for the
most translated author. She wrote on a wide range of topics, including education,
natural history, fantasy, mystery, and biblical narratives.
Blyton worked in a wide range of fictional genres, from fairy tales to animal,
nature, detective, mystery, and circus stories, but she often "blurred the boundaries" in
her books and encompassed a range of genres even in her short stories. In a 1958 article
published in The Author, she wrote that there were a "dozen or more different types of
stories for children", and she had tried them all, but her favorites were those with a
family at their center. Enid Blyton’s writing style is characterized by simple and easy-to-
read language.
The book I am reviewing today is one in the series of 7 books. It is a fiction book
with hard cover. This book is published by Award Publication. It has 192 pages excluding
the cover. It has beautiful illustration by Janet Wickham. There are 12 wonderful
interesting short stories.
One of the short stories in the book is “The Brave Little Puppy”. It is a nine-page
short story about a puppy which was found being thrown into a pond by a man. It was
struggling in the pond and was found by a boy named Martin and a girl named Clare.
They took the puppy home. They wanted to keep him, but mother refused as they
already have two rabbits and a kitten.
So, the puppy will be taken to a Dog’s Home. When they are about to take it to
the Dog’s Home, two robbers try to steal the family’s car. The brave puppy did the
unthinkable and chase the robbers away. Although the puppy just starting to become
acquainted with the family, he abetted them and circumvented their car being stolen.
So, after the incident, father decided to keep him. As he grew, he continues to astonish
them on what he can do.
This story is my favorite because it is presented through a simple genre but it
carries strong values for life. Love and respect the characters of animals too as they to
have love and affection just as we human do. A great sense of gratitude was
immediately shown by the puppy to his master. Even they were not aware that their car
is going to be stolen. The puppy, with it’s strong sense and intelligence chased the
robbers away.
We say dogs are the most grateful animals and we see that in this short story. It’s
a marvelous lesson to me. “Be grateful” A simple phrase but speaks the utmost volume
and impact that the ought to be thankful and grateful for everything in life. Let’s not just
take life for granted but through life I’ve learn to be grateful.
Gratitude comes with appreciation and we see the puppy doing astonishing acts
to take care and impress the family that sheltered him. I have learnt about simplicity.
Having simple life can be fulfilling like what the puppy felt.
The puppy who was drowning, got a life because of human kindness. There came
a bond between the animal and man. I’m sure the puppy wanted to make his life a
blessing to others. He could have drowned but he survived. So, let’s be alert towards
our surrounding and be sensitive to one another’s needs. Loyalty, kindness and living
together has impressed me so much. I think it is an amazing story shows how incredible
an animal can be. Personally, it is a wonderful story showing the love between man and
animal.
In this collection are stories of The Runaway toys, A Cat in Fairyland and The Very
Little Hen. There are all wonderful and great stories.
Lastly, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes animals, creatures and
adventures and magical lands. Besides that, the book highlights many moral values,
love, kindness, bravery, loyalty, politeness and gratefulness. I will also recommend this
book to anyone who is beginner reader or maybe those who are learning the second
language

That’s all from me, thank you.
