 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
Getting Started

• These cable joints and terminations must be installed by skilled and competent Cable Jointer
• Check the kit contents to ensure the termination will fit the cable to be terminated
• Check kit contents against packing list to ensure that the kit is complete
• Read the instructions before commencing as procedures could change.

General Tips and Instructions

• Always keep the work area and cables clean

• Ensure that the shrunk tubing is free from wrinkles and air bubbles during and after shrinking.
• Use of propane ( preferred) or butane gas torch.
• Adjust the torch to obtain the soft blue flam with yellow tip.
• Keep the torch aimed the shrink direction to preheat the material.
• Keep the flam moving continuously to avoid scorching the material.
• Clean and degrease all parts that will come into contact with adhesive.
• Start Shrinking the tubing at the position recommended in the instruction.
• Ensure that the tubing is shrunk smoothly before continuing alone the cable.
• Tubing should be smooth and wrinkle free with inner components clearly defined

Cable Preparation Tips

• Always keep the cable outer sheaths clean and free from dust, oil and mud
• Take extreme care not to cut or nick the cable insulation during preparation.
• If possible, use a small round file to make a ring cut at the point where the semi-conductive (semi-con)
layer is removed.
• Only use presoaked cleaning tissue supplied with this kit to clean XLPE insulation and cols applied
components.
• Clean and degrease all surfaces where mastic will be applied.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
1. Prepare the cable. Remove the over sheath on a
length of L+K mm for indoor (K=lug barrel
length+5mm). L=Anti-tracking tube length -60mm.

2. Apply Red sealant mastic at the top of the over sheath.

Overlap onto the core is: length= 60mm. Apply the tape
with its original width, not necessary to stretch.

3. Fold back the screen tape/wire and use the copper wire
screen to fix them on the length about 60mm. And crimp the lug
for the screen wire.

4.Remove semi-con screen on length of L1=50mm. If you
cut or nick the insulation please use the abrasive paper

5. Remove core insulation on a length of K where K= lug
barrel length+5mm. Make sure to leave a 5mm gap
between insulation and cable lug.
Crimp the cable lug according to manufacturers
installation instructions. Please use the abrasive paper
chip removing.

6. Apply red sealing mastic (Tape 65) to the lugs.

Cover the lugs till the top of the barrel section where the lug becomes
flat. Overlap onto the core insulation on a length of 10mm. Stretch the
Red sealing mastic to half of its original width and use a half width overlap.

and use a 50% overlap. The mastic should overlap 10mm onto the
core insulation and 20mm onto the tape screen. Make sure that the
mastic is applied evenly and with a straight profile at each end. Clean
and degrease the cores.

7. Apply a thin layer of silicone grease on a length of
about 100mm from the end of the mastic profile
towards the lug.

8. Place stress control tubing (HSC-100) into position. Overlap

the tube until the screen wire. Shrink the tube from downward
to upwards evenly as shown. DO NOT SCORCH THE TUBE
SURFACE. USE A SOFT YELLOW TIP FLAME.

9. Position the anti track tubing (HATA) onto the cores.

Shrink the tube from downward to upwards evenly as

10. Position the rain shed on
the core and shrink.
