Title of Thesis Harmonizing Nature and Interiors: Biomimicry Design Solutions For a Student
Hostel in Malaysia
Background of This research background provides an overview of the research topic, its relevance,
Research and the key principles driving the study, laying the groundwork for further
research on biomimicry-inspired hostel design interior design.

Problem Statement Its requires a multidisciplinary approach that combines principles of architecture,
engineering, biology, and environmental science. Additionally, it demands a deep
understanding of the local context, culture, and regulatory framework in Malaysia.
This project seeks to address these issues and demonstrate the potential of
Biomimicry-inspired design in creating a more sustainable and ecologically
harmonious future for student accommodation in Malaysia.

Research Questions

Research Aim The aim of this research is to explore and apply principles derived from the
architectural and functional strategies of ant colonies to develop innovative, and
guest-centric , biomimicry-inspired for hostel design.

Research
Objective

Scope of study The study will concentrate on a variety of design components that can be included
into the interior of the hostel and are inspired by trees, such as materials, colors,
textures, and finishes. The study will look at sustainable material possibilities and
eco-friendly practices that are in line with the tree concept and encourage
environmental responsibility. It will also explore the principles of biophilic design
and how they might be implemented to create a nature-infused ambience within
the hostel.

*Is this the direction you are into? It is possible. Choose only ONE of these;
Biophilic (or is it more of ‘biomimicry’ rather than a ‘biophilic’? Please understand
the term) or Sustainable?
Research While this study focuses on the application of ant-inspired materials and finishes
Methodology (topic need to rephrase or reconsider) in hostels, it acknowledges that translating
biological principles to practical design solutions may present challenges.
Additionally, the research scope is limited to specific environmental conditions and
hostel typologies. * Elaborate more on these conditions & typologies
Significance of The outcomes of this research can revolutionize hostel design by offering
Study sustainable, energy-efficient, and guest-centric materials and finishes inspired by
the remarkable efficiency of ant colonies. These innovations can contribute to
the growth of eco-friendly and budget-conscious hostel accommodations, meeting
the evolving needs of students.

*Be careful with these words. Does your project & design really gave a huge
impact in hostel design? If it does, you need to provide the evidence.
