Gimnazjum – Poziom podstawowy

Reading

Match the films to the people that would enjoy them. One film matches to two
people.

A WHITE CHRISTMAS is a wonderful film for all the family. It has a great cast, funny
lines and, of course, some of the best songs you will ever hear in a film, including the
most famous Christmas song of all, White Christmas. There’s no violence, no Santa
Clause, just a great, fun movie for adults and children alike.

B LOVE ACTUALLY is a British film with an amazing cast including Hugh Grant, Colin
Firth, Keira Knightley, Alan Rickman (better known as Professor Snape) and Emma
Thompson. It tells the story of different people at Christmas time, all of them in love or
looking for love, some happy, some sad. Watch it with your boyfriend or girlfriend and
bring some romance into your Christmas.

C BAD SANTA is a little different from most Christmas films. Two men dress up as Santa
and his helper so that they can rob shops. Of course, it’s a Christmas film so it has a
happy ending but it’s definitely not for younger children. It contains bad language and
violence but, for those aged 16 and above, it could be the perfect Christmas film.

Discussion

1. Make a list of five Christmas films that you know.

2. Compare your list with your partner.
3. Discuss which films you like and which you don’t like. Try to explain why. If your
partner has written down a film that you don’t know, ask him/her to explain what
it is about.
