Topic: In a 100 to 200-word paragraph, describe the social benefits of studying in a culturally

diverse environment.

Thirteen years ago, I went to England to study English for two years. I had the opportunity to
meet and study with people from different countries and nationalities. That experience brought to
my life many benefits and positive learnings that today make me a different and better person.
Based on my experience, I think there are three most important social benefits of studying in a
culturally diverse environment. First, learning about different backgrounds. (Rizvi, Naqvi, &
Batool, 2016) provide evidence that “personal growth of students was increased, when they were
exposed to multicultural situations”. I agree with them because when the person could study and
share in a diverse environment gives the student the opportunity to be in touch with different
ways to think and leadership styles, giving them communications skills to be more effective in
their personal and professional life. Second, becoming a more inclusive mindset. According to
(Rizvi, Naqvi, & Batool, 2016), “being in exposure to a multicultural environment would assist
students in thinking and encourage them to have a more open mindset” and “The main aim of
including cultural diversity in educational setting is to broader the mindset of students and
teachers as well”. When people can share life experiences and customs with each other, this
changes the way they see things and understand that there are many ways than they have been
used to and accept differences more easily. Finally, learning about different customs. In this way,
the students get skills to accept the differences and be more tolerant, which translates into a more
equitable society with greater justice. In conclusion, students in a culturally diverse environment
will have more tools and opportunities to get new skills from their peers, being better their
academic and personal profiles.
