NEET 2024: NTA to release reduced syllabus next

week
Based on the inputs given by the National Medical Commission (NMC)
regarding the NEET UG 2024 syllabus, the National Testing Agency
(NTA) is soon going to notify a rationalised syllabus next week for the
entrance test.
As per NTA, the new lighter syllabus will be based on NMC inputs and
after consulting with various Boards which rationalised their senior
secondary syllabus during the COVID-19 pandemic,

Commenting on the matter, NTA Director General Subodh Kumar Singh
told TOI, "NTA will notify NEET-UG syllabus next week so that it helps
students in preparation. It will be a reduced syllabus. The students will be
getting over six months to plan their studies for the entrance test."

The Delhi High Court Thursday granted eight weeks to the Centre as a last
opportunity to frame a policy on online sale of medicines, saying the issue
has been lingering on for long and the government must expedite the
process.
The court said if the policy is not framed within the stipulated time period,
the joint secretary concerned dealing with the issue shall be personally
present before the court on March 4, 2024, the next date of hearing.

"This court is of the view that as more than five years have lapsed, the
Union of India has had sufficient time to frame the policy. In the interest
of justice, one last opportunity is granted to the Union of India to form the
policy within eight weeks.
"In the event the policy is not framed within the stipulated time period, the
joint secretary dealing with the subject shall be personally present on the
next date," a bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Mini
Pushkarna said.

despite a court order. The court urges the Centre to expedite the process, highlighting the

With an aim to reduce human intervention, the Medical Assessment and
Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has
decided that a 'Robust Randomization Software' will choose the persons
who will assess the medical colleges.
This has been specified by the NMC Board in the newly released
guidelines for the assessment and rating of medical colleges. These
guidelines will be implemented next year i.e. the academic year 2024-
2025.

The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has the
responsibility to conduct regular assessments of medical colleges. It also
grants recognition to the medical institutes which fulfill the requirements
of the Commission. In order to ensure that the standard of medical
education and training is maintained, surprise inspections are also
conducted by NMC. As per the guidelines, after the inspection, the
information will be collected and documented on the NMC portal by the
assessor as per the latest assessor guidelines available on the Commission's
website.
Releasing the new guidelines, MARB discussed at length about the
Assessment Process, Application Fee, Stepwise process for Accreditation,
Sanctions and Penalty, Assessment and Rating, and Redressal and Appeal
procedures.
