Reflective Statement
In reflection on my experience in the report of digital transformation on ZARA, I gained a
deep knowledge of digital transformation in the apparel industry due to analysis on
Zara. It helps me to gain a wide range of knowledge on how to keep emerging customer
demand and respond to technology evolutions to survive in the apparel industry. The
study focused on analysing the core concept of digital transformation and
transformation strategy development with social, ethical and behavioural implications of
digitalisation in the perspective of apparel organisation. The study critically discussed
the steps that Zara makes toward digitalisation like implementation of AL, IoT, click and
collect, RFID, quick production strategy and big data analysis with future challenges that
may face apparel organisation during the time of digitalisation.

This paper aims to reflects that very latest technology offers more opportunities to
transform operation effectively. Today, organisations are easily adopting new innovation
to beat their rival organisation and make their unique business model. Digital
advancement allows organisations to emerge with new companies and gain more
market share to be leaders of the industry because these advancement makes previous
leaders fall down who did not predict these changes. Like the traditional system,
organisations don’t make decisions based on past experience or hypothesis.

This study proved that how apparel organisations are easily adopting new innovation to
beat their rival organisation and make their unique business model. Digital advances
also help to solve current problems of the apparel industry such as supply chain
disruption or delays in delivery. The way of digitalisation can make a green business by
practicing advance technology. A report by Natalia Modenova and Daria Shapovalova
showed that digital production of clothes helps to reduce more than 97% less CO2 than
the traditional system (Robinson, 2021).

digitalisation literature that can help students to develop further research on
digitalisation in apparel industry. It describes that being a traditional industry in today’s
apparel industry is hard to survive. The pressure surrounding the changing
environment, both internal and external is difficult to face with remain inflexible.
Although choose to change traditional strategies doesn’t bring success always. There
are many challenges and opportunities becomes bigger deals such as changing buying
behaviours, future expectation, change of taste/fashion, social or ethical implication.
The diffusion of digital technologies has led to radical changes in apparel industry and
eliminating traditional boundaries.

In reflection on my experience on digitalisation in apparel industry concludes that

organisations who are able to adopt digital change effectively will survive in this
competitive industry and make a sustainable business. Digital transformation can help
to define internal strategy, quick production, reducing lead time and efficient inventory
management within a click. Although COVID-19 pandemic made the sector intensified
