Reflection Paper: NSTP Planning

In general, I see planning as a very hectic task and I often find it overwhelming so I try to
avoid it in group works or any of the like. I initially believed that planning could only be done
properly by natural born leaders, but as I grew, it became simple to me since planning could be
implemented in all the little or big aspects of life.

I was quite struck by how the speaker approached how to teach systematic planning,
although I was already taught what a SWOT analysis is and what the SMART method is because
of my strand, there was a lot more to these terms than what I thought there was. There was a little
more depth during the session and what stuck with me was the quote “if you fail to plan, you
plan to fail.” It’s a simple quote that everyone will be able to understand, to me it simply means
that you always need to plan, and to do that successfully you have to think of the SWOT analysis
and the SMART method.

Another thing I learned is that one should not be afraid to make mistakes, as long as you
learn from it, you are making progress. It is inevitable even with the most elaborate systematic
plans, there will always be a way that things may not go a certain way, and one should
acknowledge that and adapt to it.
