Experiment 8

➢ Objective:

• To investigate the maximum power output from a DC power source in a circuit by

varying the load resistance and determining the optimal value for maximum power
transfer.
• Record and analyze the data to quantify the power output at different load resistances.
• Gain hands-on experience with practical circuit configurations, measurement
instruments, and variable resistors.

➢ Component and equipment Required:

• DC Power Supply
• Variable Resistor (Potentiometer)
• Multimeter
• Connecting Wires
• Resistors
• Breadboard

➢ Procedure:

• First of all, take the breadboard, and set up a resistor on the breadboard.
• Fix the variable resistor (Potentiometer) in series with resistor on breadboard.
• Measure the value of resistance of resistor.
• Vary the resistance of variable resistor and measure the voltage across variable resistor
using a multimeter.
• Find the power output using formula:
P = V2/R
