(Process) Pull Existing Keywords With SEMrush
(Process) Pull Existing Keywords With SEMrush
Step #1: Open up SEMrush and paste your domain into the search bar at the top of the page.
Navigate to the SEO Toolkit >> Organic Research >> Positions report:
You’ll be able to view the number of keywords your site is currently ranking for, and see an
organic traffic trend line.
Step #2: Scroll down to the bottom of the page to view the Organic Search Positions table:
Step #3: Set the following filters to find the quick win keyword opportunities:
After filtering the positions 5-15, if I still have hundreds or thousands of keywords remaining, I’ll
usually reduce the position filter to “Greater Than 5 AND Less Than 11” to only show the
keywords ranking bottom of page 1.
If there are still hundreds of keywords remaining, I’ll then add a volume filter to only show
keywords with volume greater than 500 or 1,000, depending on the size of the site I’m working
with.
Aim to finish with ~200 different keywords in your list.
Note: for smaller sites, it's ok if you only have a small handful of opportunities.
Step #4: Export the list of keywords. We’ll be streamlining the list with a handy little automation
template in the next video.
