‘Torque Value for High Strength Bolts for the Calibrated Torque Tightening Method:
HS bolts as per ASTM A 325 for 1 2 to 36mm dia.
Bolts above (b 36mm are as per IS- 1367 (Part-3}: 2002,
METAL SCOPE recommended method for the tightening is Turn-of-Nut pre-tensioning method recommended

1. The torque value provided in above mentioned table to replace the torque value in
WI: ASG: 03 Section No: 09, page -2 of 14 dtd 1-4-1999
2. Refer Wh: ASG: 03 did_ 1-4-1999 for standard bolt tightening procedure.
3. For Torque value for any non standard diameter, contact METALSCOPE Design dept.
4. The Proof Load is based on ASTM standard A 325 M-07, Table-4,
Column 4. This is based on 600Mpa on stress area.
5, tension denotes the pre-tension in the bott induced d tie to applied Torque
6. The Torque kD'T. where,
ik = a non-dimensional torque ceft. = 0.2 (average value as per SP-6 Part-4)
D=nominal diameter of the bolt
‘T=Tension induced in the bolt
7. The Torque value is set to develop 70% of proof load in the H $ bolt
8, Calibrated wrench as per Al SC recommendation shall be used for torque tightening
