Elastic Analysis of Composite Beams
A composite beam is nonhomogeneous.
To use the above formulas a transformed section is employed.

Elastic Analysis of Composite Beams In the elastic analysis of the composite beam the following assumptions are made: Plane sections before bending remain plane after bending. The strain in concrete in any point is equal to the strain in steel at that point. The beam and slab materials are both elastic. These two materials are related by the modular ratio, n. The shear connection provides full interaction between beam and slab. Any concrete below the neutral axis in tension is ineffective.

Elastic Analysis of Composite Beams Steps in Elastic Analysis are as follows:
Using, the modular ration, transform, the composite section
into an equivalent area of steel material. ( can also be transferred into concrete but steel is easier)
Determine the location of N.A. of the transformed sections
Calculate Itr (moment of inertia of the transformed section)
Calculate stress in slab & beam under various loading
