Sons of Horus
The idea of the speartip style
of warfare goes back to the
very earliest days of the XVIth
Legion. Often assigned to pre-
emptive strikes or nal
deathblows, the most famous
of which earned them the
epithet the Luna Wolves
during the First Paci cation of
Luna. The XVIth would deploy
from assault aircraft and be in
the very teeth of the enemy
before the roar of their
ordnance had faded.
5000 Sons of Horus deployed
to Prospero alongside the
Space Wolves and their allies
under the command of Line
Captain Boros Kurn. Sent
nominally as a Line Company,
there is evidence that they
were primarily deployed to
abduct prisoners in the
shadow of the main assault.

Imperial Fists
Archamus is is the Oath name
taken by the leader of the
Huscarls - Dorn’s personal
bodyguard. The name was rst
chosen by Kye of Inwit who was
one of ‘the First’, the original
natives of the planet who made
their way to the Imperial Fists’
stronghold and swore their
oaths to the legion.
The Imperial Fists claim rites of
tithe throughout Terra, from
their most ancient steadying of
fi
Roma to Himilayzia and
beyond. In each of these
steddings recruits of a taciturn
nature were selected,
endurance and mental fortitude
being their hallmarks. Even
where other Legions had
express rights to raise their
levies - the Imperial Fists took
thier due. The mightiest of
these is Sigismund - selected for
the VIII legion, he was given to
the VII rather than be inducted
into the Night Lords.

Titan Legions
From lone Rapier scouts to
maniples of the largest god-
engines deployed by the Triad
Ferrum Morgulus - the titans of
the Legio Titanicus are the
mailed st of the Imperium,
laying destruction to whole
systems with vast arrays of
incandescent repower only
rivalled by the ships of the
eets.

Whilst giants which bestrode
the battle eld, titans were still
vulnerable to infantry assault.
To this end the honour guard
of the Secutarii were called to
meet the vulnerabilities of the
go-engines in close quarters of
that the titan itself could
concentrate on the irradiation
of civilisations.

The Thousand Sons
Whilst many see Magnus’ need
to provide protection to his
sons of the XV legion at any
cost as a noble goal; it is the
lies which are built around
these actions which predicate
his fall. It is the same hubris to
not trust in his sons as the
Emperor does to the
Primarchs which is re ected at
large in all of his mistakes -
truly his father’s closest son.
Terran inductees to the XV
legion were taken from the

Achaemenid Empire - one of
the rst Terran states to swear
fealty to the Emperor.
Su ering neither radioactive
fallout nor devastation by the
legions of the Emperor’s
Thunder Warriors, the
Achaemenids were seen as a
good recruiting stock for the
legion due to their low
instance of genetic instability
and mutation seen in much of
Terran stock. That the fall of
the legion would be predicated
on this adds further to their

The Ultramarines
Originally known as the War
Born, like the VII - the XIII
Legion Astartes were an
amalgamation of recruits from
all over Terra. However where
the Fists had been selected for
a particular individual trait,
the inductees of the XIII were
all from empires which refused
to yield to the Emperor. This
autonomy led to the creation
of individual companies taking
on their own personal heraldry
and cognomen.
During the years of the
Shadow Crusade the Red
Marked became synonymous
with the destruction of traitor
forces left operating within the
bounds of Ultramar. Taking
orders from Aenid Thiel, this
rag-tag cadre of veteran
warriors would court censure
through their often blunt and
unconventional means - the
red mark being a simple sign
to distinguish friend from foe.
