A Thanksgiving to Remember

This year, I had a great Thanksgiving with my family in Anaheim. I live in Northridge, so I
usually take the train to visit them. It felt good to see my parents, who I don’t always get
along with. But this time, we had nothing but positive energy and gratitude. We decided
to make all the food ourselves, just to make it more exciting and personal. Plus,
homecooked food is always better, no debate. We made a traditional Puerto Rican dish
called pastelillo’s, which are basically fried turnovers traditionally filled with meat or
cheese, but you can honestly put whatever you like in them. We made some with regular
meat and some without, since I’m vegan. We also had scalloped potatoes, turkey, ham,
and veggies. Everything was homemade and tasted amazing. We ended the night by
watching a movie outside near our firepit. It was a cozy and relaxing way to enjoy each
other’s company and reflect on all our blessings. I’m so glad I got to spend this
Thanksgiving with my family, and I hope to do it again next year but with more family. It
was a Thanksgiving to remember.
