Halloween

Halloween this year was really fun. In preparation I had made a sick carving of a skier
hitting a steezy poze, but the real fun came from the night itself.
I started my Halloween night at the AEPi Fraternity house. I was with a bunch of my
friends and we were all just having a good time. A few Alumni showed up and it was really cool
to get to speak to them. I find it really interesting how they view the Fraternity as someone who
was once in and now watches from a sort of distance as new members and active brothers mold
the house and continue its legacy through time. As the night went on, it was time to migrate.
I showed up to a party a few of my friends from highschool were throwing. It was much
smaller, but we had an amazing time. We played pool, which I love! And then we sat around and
just kicked it for a minute until around midnight or one in the morning. I had gotten a text from
one of my other friends that I just had to come to this party and it would be well worth it. I was
down for a sidequest induced spontaneous night so I said screw it and dipped, dapping up all the
homies before I did of course.
I arrived at the next house and walked in. I was immediately greeted by like twenty
people I recognized. I had no idea that I would be there too, so I was absolutely stoked. I
eventually found the friend who had told me I needed to be there and asked him why. He just
told me to follow him and we went out to the backyard where there was a whole freestyle/ sipher
goin down. He just gave me a wink before telling everyone they needed to step aside for me. I
laughed and played it cool.
The beat started with a raw melody so I did a little crowd work with some adlibs. I heard
the high hats come in and could hear the music start to crescendo. Crunch! The snare hit and the
baseline was locked in. I don’t even remember what I was rapping about, but I was flowing. The
808s compliment my every bar. I anticipated the beat drop and crushed the flow switch. Every
few bars a punchline would get the crowd yelling “aye!” This was where I should have been the
whole night! Everyone in the circle went around for probably thirty more minutes. It was
amazing night.
