    P3.1 Argument

    Here’s Why Costa Rica Leads The Americas in Its Response To Climate Change by Daniel

    Proctor shows numerous ways that Costa Rica has managed to be so eco friendly. More than 65

    percent of the country's energy comes from renewable resources such as hydro electric power

    and geothermal energy from its volcanoes. Costa Rica also makes it a key point to protect a lot of

    its land, nearly thirty percent. In addition to protecting the existing environment, Costa Rica has

    also put efforts towards reforestation and brought back just over twenty five percent of forests

    between 1980 and 2000. The source seems to be credible as they are supporting their claims with

    a large amount of statistics. While I believe the source is credible, I don’t believe it is free of

    bias. The end of the article talks about travel and how amazing and eco friendly it is, which I can

    say it is from firsthand knowledge, but given that the site seems to be a travel site, I would say it

    is in the authors best interest to paint Costa Rica in the brightest light. As someone planning to

    travel full time at one point in their twenties, I can fully see myself writing on this topic for my

    essay as I not only find it interesting but it fully pertains to me.
