Journal Activity 3

The Professional Careers Conference was an event that has truly helped me grow in many
ways. All of the insights and guidance provided by every professor during this event have been
extremely helpful for me. After participating in this conference, I have learned a lot of new
knowledge, and I would like to thank every professor at the event for sharing their wisdom with
everyone. After the conference, I feel more confident and knowledgeable, and I am much more
prepared for the future when I graduate and begin my career.

For most people, the beginning is always the most challenging part when starting their careers.
This is why I agree that we should grab all the research we can conduct on our careers,
alongside all the tips and tricks we can find, to have an easier time kickstarting our careers. One
of the professors also said that to be successful in your career, you must develop consistency
and a positive mindset. Personally, I have not managed to gain a positive attitude just yet, so I
will make sure to try my best to get one. I find it difficult to be optimistic sometimes, but I will try
to be more confident once I start my career. Furthermore, the professors have discussed the
importance of managing what you can influence or control. I will take this lesson to heart, as
managing what can influence or control me is essential to reduce my stress or anxiety levels
more efficiently. I should also start outlining my expectations for success once I begin my
career. I can now define better what I should be or should not be doing and set up boundaries
better. The most important insights were all from professor Ian Crawford. Therefore, I would like
to thank him for providing everyone with his experiences and knowledge. Thanks to what he
shared, I can start improving myself better for the unforeseeable future.
