Nina called to her dog, “Benji, here boy!” He

bounded up to her and gave her a slobbery lick.

“Hey!” she said smiling, “you know what time

it is don’t you boy.” She gave him a scratch
and walked towards the door. Benji stopped
by the coat rack and whined.

“Oh, good boy,” said Nina, as she reached for

the lead, “I’d be lost without you Benji!”

Frankie looked over at the other boys playing on the

oval. He wasn’t good enough to play soccer with them,
but he liked watching, and always crossed his fingers
that one day he might be asked to play.

“Oi!” Called Billy, “What are you looking at?” Billy was
one of the scariest boys in Frankie’s class.

“Um, just watching the game.” Frankie stammered back.

“Well, come on then, don’t just sit there!” Frankies’ jaw

dropped, he couldn’t believe what was happening.

Rani sat up in bed. Today’s the day, she

thought to herself, as she looked out the
window. She looked over at the clothes
she had carefully laid out the night before.
Curly blue wig, yellow funny onesie,
oversized red shoes and a packet of face
paint. If she was going to look silly in front
of the whole school, then at least it was
going to be for a good cause.
