Dear Robert Rundle Families,

I hope you all have had the chance to relax and enjoy the summer and some of the wonderful
weather we finally had. We are looking forward to having students back in the school, and I would
like to extend a warm welcome back to all our new and returning students and families.

Robert Rundle will certainly look different this year. We are entering our first year of having only
grades 4-6 in the building and we are preparing to keep everyone safe with school re-entry. On
July 21, the Minister of Education announced we would return to school under Scenario 1. This
will be a new schooling experience for us all, and we intend to progress with care and
deliberateness in order to ensure a successful school year. Our school division has outlined a
School Re-Entry Plan based on recommendations by the Chief Medical Officer of Health and
Alberta Education. The full plan can be found on the district website.
https://www.spschools.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=969799&pageId=27737690

Part of this plan is a staggered entry to school for all grades on the first three days of school. We
will do this according to the schedule below to help our students understand the new rules and
procedures in our schools. On these days, a smaller group of students (approximately one-third
of the class) will attend. Having smaller class sizes for your child’s first day of school will allow
greater care and attention in helping everyone become familiar with the new procedures and
practices we have in place. It will also provide students and teachers an opportunity to begin
building critically supportive relationships together.

Students whose homeroom teacher is Mr. Durksen, Ms. Drover or Mr. Huang will all enter
through the front door and follow the staggered entry schedule at the bottom of the chart. All
other students will follow the grade level schedule and enter through the assigned door. There
will be supervisors present to help ensure physical distancing and to direct students to their
homeroom. Students can enter the building on staggered entry days anytime after 8:40 and
proceed to their classrooms. When entering the building they will be required to wear a mask and
sanitize their hands. Sanitizer will be provided, and the school district will provide 2 reusable
masks per student. At this point I do not know when those will be made available.

The district has also provided an option for online schooling as you are probably aware. If you
have chosen to do online school, you will be contacted by the teacher responsible for your child’s
grade. This will not be a teacher from Robert Rundle, as currently, all our teachers will be
providing in class instruction.

As always, if there are any questions, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

Sincerely,

Cory Albrecht
Principal
