After that, Eileen wanted to go shopping on Oxford Street but she also wanted to see the London Eye, which is on the other bank of the Thames! So we did some quick shopping and then hurried to the Eye before it closed! We had a great time up there and Eileen took thousands of photos of us and London, but in the end we were exhausted. INTHE EYE OF THE GUReC ene Climate change can intensify tropical storms and cause hurricanes, violent storms that generally originate in the west Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. They start out over the warm ocean water, rotating around an eye, which is the centre of the storm and the calmest part. As hurricanes rotate, they gather heat and energy from the warm ocean water and spiral anywhere from 120 to 320 kilometres per hour. They get bigger and bigger until they encounter land. The word hurricane comes from the Spanish word huracén. Spanish explorers picked up this term from the indigenous people of the Caribbean in the 16th century. Itwas taken from the name of their storm god Juracén and it eventually became ‘hurricane’ in English. Hurricanes are measured into five categories according to different criteria, for example how fast they are rotating, how big the waves are and how much damage they can cause. A Category 1 hurricane is the lowest and does the least damage, while a Category 5 hurricane is the worst and can do the most damage with winds + they gather heat si riscaldano + (they) spiral si muovono a spirale = damage danno « the least il minimo + tropieal-like di tipo tr ‘= have been observed si sono osservati * floods inondazioni HURRICANE ~ over 250 kilometres per hour. The worst most recent hurricane was hurricane Maria in 2017. It was a category 4 hurricane that hit Puerto Rico in the northeast Caribbean Sea with winds over 250 km ph. MEDICANES, a new phenomenon Because of global warming recently tropical-like cyclones have been observed in the Mediterranean Sea as well. These phenomena are called medicanes (Mediterranean hurricanes). On a few occasions, some storms reached the strength of a Category and 2 hurricane intensity. The main hazard posed by ‘medicanes is not usually from destructive winds, but torrential rains and flash floods. READ AND WRITE © Leggi di nuovo. Vero (T) 0 falso (FI? 1. My name's Julie Dell, I'm thirteen and I live in a small town in New Jersey, in the USA There's no playground in our town and most of us play outside in the street, which is very dangerous. Last month a car d a friend of mine while he was playing in front of his house and he went to hospital. So we decided to organize a group and plan our ideal playground. Together we drew a sketch of the “perfect playground”, researched e s and came fund-raising ideas. Then we presented our plan to the hip |. Thad to talk about the plan in front of the council, and that was the hardest thing for me because I'm shy. However I was very convincing because now the playground is a reality. One important aspect of our experience is that we learned to work together as a community: more kids got involved in raising money by selling sweets and sandwiches door to door. I think the playground can be an important place for the local community: there they can relax, have picnics and make new friends! iato in meglio. d parco giochi investi costi per le attrezzature abbiamo pensato a consiglio comunale
