HOW DO SUGARY

DRINKS AFFECT
YOUR TEETH?!
Problem:
To see how sugary drinks like soda can affect your teeth.

Hypothesis:
My hypothesis is that drinks with more sugar affect your
teeth more badly than drinks with less/no sugar.

Materials:
4 white eggs
4 cups
Masking tape
Water
Dark colored sugar-free drink
Dark colored fruit juice
Dark colored soda pop

Procedure:
Take the 4 cups and label it based on which drink you
will pour in it.

Pour the drink into its designated cup and put an egg
inside.

Store your cups in a safe spot and wait a few hours.

See what has happened to the eggs!

Report:
The hard shell of an egg protects the soft parts inside, just
like the hard enamel that protects the tender pulp of your
teeth, eggshells and teeth are made of calcium, so we can
use eggs as a substitute for teeth. Both Sugar and acids are
both very harmful to teeth. Acids destroy enamel and give
bacteria a path to start decaying it and sugar promotes
decay, so now seeing how the eggs turned out at the end,
we can see how each drink affects our teeth individually.

Conclusion:
Sugary drinks can affect your teeth very badly if you
drink too much of it, but you can drink them once in a
while on certain occasions!
