A good example is that you may be asked to give a critique about a certain subject, and this would
constitute a reaction paper, or to write a review about a literature book; it also falls into the same group. A
reaction paper is mainly based on response towards certain deeds in a story.
Based on the handout that was given to us before the show started, "The
Conversationalist" is a story about "a woman who takes money for favours. But she is not
a whore. She is the Conversationalist. For a penny or two she will be anything for you
and she will listen, listen to all your fears, broken dreams, and everything in between; that
is until time runs out."

I was intrigued with how the story will go. Reading the synopsis will leave you with a
question about why would someone need a conversationalist. And I think that the
audience shared the same sentiments because I have observed that everyone was really
watching and paying attention to the play.

In my opinion, the climax of the story was also the part where I got confused. There was
a part of the play where I can't tell if "the conversationalist" is acting out a character or
was it her real self talking. You really have to pay attention to that part or you will get lost
until the play ends. It turns out that the "conversationalist" who gets paid to listen to
anyone's problem also has issues that she needs to resolve. In the end, she also needed
someone to converse her problems and frustrations with.

The story was clearly delivered. And the actors identified well with the characters that
they are portraying. They engaged my emotions and held my attention until the very last
second of the play. They leaped out of their lines. The actors' clear pronunciation, diction
and right tone worked and it did a lot to amuse the audience. Yes, it a big factor during a
play. I think almost everyone gets distracted with mispronunciations. Somehow, the
attention is diverted to enunciating words rather focusing on the talent.

One actor portrayed 3 characters in that play. Well, I know it happens a lot, but when you
see someone do it, you just can't help but to feel great admiration towards the actor. It is
not that easy to separate characters when you're portraying multiple roles. But the actor
did good in doing so.

I must say that the play was well casted, and well directed. Based on the performance of
the actors, the director got the cast to really understand the underpinnings of the story by
Jose De Los Reyes. They drew the scene to bring the audience to a good emotional
climax and ending. The light was adequate and the simple stage was effective. As I have
described the setting of the stage earlier, I must say that it wasn't really necessary to add
desgins and props as the story of the play is its strength.
A Beautiful Mind is a movie about John Forbes Nash Jr.who is notable for his contributions in
Economics and Mathematics. It was evident in the film that he has an outstanding talent and showed
it by performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment.
With a superior intelligence, I can say that Nash is truly a brilliant man.
Despite the fact he is a genius, everything still wasn’t perfect — he’s suffering from a mental illness
called schizophrenia without his awareness. While he has a beyond average aptitude in logical and
mathematical aspects, he had problems with his interpersonal relationships. This affliction slowly
eats up his mind, destroying his bond with the people around him. With this illness, he wasn’t able to
separate the imaginary world from the real world he is living in, with all the hallucinations and
nonexistent friends he has.
I strongly believe that these delusions are from the feelings and memories he repressed in his
subconscious that liberates in the form of imaginary friends and such. Lucky for him that he has
understanding wife, because if it wasn’t for her love and support, he wouldn’t be able to get through
one of the hardest trials in his life. Although she nearly lost her faith, Alicia didn’t give up the hope
that Nash will someday overcome his disease. This quality of Alicia is something I admired: standing
by and staying committed to the person she loves the most.
Granted all the struggles, Nash didn’t give up the passion to learn and share his learnings as well. He
came out on top of this illness by declining therapy, living a normal life with Alicia and his child, and
also by persisting in educating eager young minds.
After watching this film, I am in stack of awe with the way Nash conquered everything that stood in
the way for achieving his dreams. I guess, the learning we can take from his story is that we should
see our disabilities not as hindrances rather, as challenges to make us strive for more. There may be
times that we trip a little, we may even fall, but we must stand up and continue walking towards
fulfilling our goals.

This, role-plays I feel much better and more confident as compared to my last interaction, aspects of
my performance were: my verbal and nonverbal communication was improved, I was smiling which
is very important to build a trusted relationship between me and the patient. There were some areas I
am still needed to focus on, such as a patient centered approach.
During the roleplay, while I managed to introduce myself professionally with good use of kinesics
regarding building rapport with the patient and paralanguage, I failed to maintain proper haptics, I
use jargon words like oral hygiene while explaining her a mouth cleaning routine, which is taught us
not to use while communicating with patients. I also didn’t adjust my chair with the same level to
maintain proper eye contact with the patient.
Briggs et al. stated that using jargon-free or plain English improves communication with patients and
also helps in avoiding potential misunderstandings that can lead to complaints. A dental indemnity
body has recommended dental professionals to use jargon-free, plain English when speaking to
patients.
After much reflection and input from the literature, I came to the realisation that good
communication skills are the key to building a good rapport with the patient.
This roleplay was valuable for me to understand the importance of using a simple language while
speaking with the patients. I believe that my greeting the patient with a smile and asking about her
oral hygiene is a good way to build the comfort and trust level between me and my patient, I showed
the patient, what is the perfect way to clean her mouth by using the models and offered her few free
samples of dental products was a good strategy to follow, in doctor/patient centered approach. In this
interaction I found that I started the conversation in a good way but the flow wasn’t good, and I
didn’t give her a chance to speak, it's only me who was talking mostly, and I didn’t paraphrase the
patient’s concerns which are very important, to make sure that I understood every aspect of the
patient’s concern.
My main goal is to focus on improving my verbal and non-verbal communication skills. In my next
interaction, I will focus on working on my patient centered approach by improving my active
listening skills, be more mindful while interacting with the patients, I also feel that I need
improvements in my sitting posture. I will use simple or jargon-free English while communication
with the patient. I will paraphrase the patient’s concern to make sure I completely understand all
his/her concerns and then began to answer.
In my opinion, this course will help me to be confident and ready to deal with the real situation at the
end of the day. Overall my principal objective is acquiring skills to build a strong patient-doctor
relationship to give the best possible care to my patients.

Death penalty meaning

The death penalty

For thousands of years it has been used as a punishment for crimes.

The death penalty is something that many people do not have a clear decision on. It is the state-
sanctioned punishment of executing an individual for a specific crime. Major arguments against the
death penalty focus on its inhumaneness, lack of deterrent effect, continuing racial and economic biases,
and irreversibility. Proponents argue that it represents a just retribution for certain crimes, deters crime,
protects society, and preserves the moral order. Many people support the death penalty‚ while others
wish for the death penalty to be abolished‚ yet there are some that support the death penalty‚ but only
in certain cases. My personal opinion is that a person commits murder and is sentenced to death there
should be no waiting. I believe 24 hours from the time the person is sentenced to death‚ the state should
follow through with their punishment

Death Penalty

The death penalty is something that some of us people may not have a firm opinion and clear decision
regarding on a death sentence. Death penalty is where an individual is put to death as a penalty that was approved
by the law for a particular crime. Major objections to this focus on how brutal it is, how it has no avoidance impact,
how it continues racist and social inequalities, and how it is inescapable. Along with this, some people agreed that
it is a fair punishment for some crimes, to protects society, to prevents crime, and to maintain morality of a
country. Several individuals favor the death penalty, while some wants it to be removed, but still, there are some
that approve but only in specific cases if it will benefit to them and achieve justice.
