Learn about this poop

Consistency: Poop that appears mucousy or watery (with and without curds) is typical for infants who are mostly breastfeeding with little or no formula
supplementation. The curds are from casein protein in breast milk that is not digested. Watery bowel movements like these can result in a blowout.

Color: A greenish-brown color is common. Bright green, frothy poop is common in breastfed infants who get more foremilk than hind milk, and a dark
green color can be the result of iron supplementation in formula fortiGers, but this is also nothing to worry about. Oenerally, all the earth tones (yellow
through green and brown) are KD and not concerning.

Kccasional variations in color and consistency are common. Ii’erent colors or consistency may indicate how fast the stool moves through the digestive
tract or what the baby ate. 9f your child has purely watery stools for more than one day, you should contact your childqs healthcare provider.

Volume: Poop amounts will vary. Kn average, the amount produced in a single bowel movement can be x grams (e2ual to approU. 3 teaspoons of peanut
butter). 0p to 4! grams is eUpected, and while F! grams (almost 4 tablespoons of peanut butter) is on the high side, it is still considered to be KD.

Diet:What goes in really a’ects what comes outS 6or eUample, going from breast milk to formula will make the poop stickier and more stinky, and it will
change the color. Colid foods (usually introduced around F to Y months of age) will do the same. 5hanges in the babyqs pee and poop can easily bother
your babyqs skin in the diapered area because the skin is so sensitive. As your baby grows, their skin will build natural protections from things that can feel
uncomfortable and make them fussy.
