outpatient care centers; outpatient mental health and substance abuse centers; and family

treatment options which include either medication, alternative therapy, other procedures or surgery.
Alternatively, counseling or medication and other therapies may be given for emotional and mental
conditions.

Globally, the hospital and outpatient care center industry is primarily in the private sector but both public
sector (government-funded) and charitable provision exists in many countries. In some countries, such as the

Hospitals And Outpatient Care Centers

Market Global Market Trends And
Strategies
Major trends shaping the hospital and outpatient care centers market include the following –

Rising Demand For Cloud Based Electronic Health Records

There is a rising demand for greater access and portability of health information from both consumers and
hospitals service providers. Cloud based EHR systems store data on remote servers which can be accessed
through mobile and web applications from various devices. They are cost effective, accessible from remote
locations, secure and offer robust privacy features. Some cloud based EHR’s integrate additional business and
information services such as disease outbreaks, price information and other services to both customers and
healthcare providers. i For instance, according to the survey by HER Intelligence, in 2020, two-third of the IT
leaders from health systems and hospitals currently utilize the cloud-based technology and 30% of the
practices that includes 11 clinicians are looking to replace the EHR system by 2021.ii Major cloud based EHR
systems providers are CureMD, Practice Fusion, AthenaHealth, MIE WebChart EMR and Quest Diagnostics
Care360 EHR iii.

Hospitals should consider deploying cloud based EHRs to reduce operational costs and provide greater access to
health information to both patients and doctors.

Big Data Analytics To Offer Quality Care

Big data analytics technologies are increasingly being adopted by hospital service providers to generate
valuable insights to deliver quality care. This technology offers tools to analyze large data sets to generate
critical information associated with patient medical history and preferences. It generates insights to improve
and streamline processes, enhance patient satisfaction levels and offer quality care to patients. Big data
analytics solutions providers are also offering applications to patients to track and manage their health and
help identify healthcare service providers.iv For instance, according to the survey by InterSystems, a health
tech company, in 2021, 80% of the healthcare executives believed that having high quality data is a top
priority and vital for informed decisions and 85% of them believe that data analytics model is slightly mature
or neutral.v Major big data analytics solutions providers include SAS, IBM, Oracle and Microsoft. vi

Since big data analytics solutions enable aid hospitals in delivering quality care, large hospitals and hospital
chains should consider adopting these technologies.

Mobile And IoT Technology Adoption

Mobile and IoT technologies are being implemented by hospitals to provide information to various
stakeholders in the hospital ecosystem. This technology offers real time visibility of patient health through
active and passive data collection. This technology can monitor medical conditions and prevent life
threatening diseases. Data generated through I0T devices is becoming critical for patient care managers,
patients to diagnose, track and treat medical conditions. Major hospitals adopting IoT technology in the USA
include HCA, Mercy Virtual Care Center and Kaiser Permanente. vii According to the survey conduct by 451
Research, in 2021, 46% of the medical operations technology professionals use IOT for asset monitoring, 44%
for outpatient remote monitoring and 40% for inpatient monitoring.viii Thus, this technology enables
healthcare providers to make accurate and informed decisions on patients’ health.

Hospitals should explore mobile and IoT technologies for faster diagnosis, monitoring and treating medical
conditions.

Emergence Of Care Coordination

Increasing collaboration between hospitals and technology companies is changing the way patient care is
delivered to hospitals. Care coordination is achieved through technology platforms that incorporate
behavioral, medical and allied services into a single platform. All stakeholders share data and have access to a
wide range of information services to ensure proper care is delivered to patients. For example, Casenet is one
of the leading disease and care management companies offering services by collaborating with communities
and hospitals. ix

Hospitals should consider collaborating with technology companies and other companies in the healthcare eco
system to deliver quality care to patients.

Personalized Medicine for Customized Care

Advancements in personalized medicine is enabling hospitals offer customized patient care. Personalized
medicine is the treatment offered to patients based on their genetics and other characteristics. It eliminates
number of treatments administered on patients, minimize side effects and improves patient outcomes. For
instance, in 2021, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles received three-year, $2 million grant from state of
California to implement personalized or precision medicine study screening children for adverse childhood
experiences.x Major hospitals offering personalized medicine include Harvard affiliated hospitals,
NorthShore, El Camino and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. xi

Hospitals should consider offering personalized medicine to cater to the requirements of patients and to minimize
side effects.

Global Outlook Assumptions

Our numbers in all markets reflect the current consensus for the global economic outlook for the next 3-5
years. This includes the positive impact of post pandemic reopening in 22-23, high inflation in the short term,
higher energy prices in the short term and higher interest rate environment in the short term. Note that our
market estimates are 'nominal' and include the impact of inflation, (reflecting actual values paid not their
theoretical worth). The estimates and forecasts for Russia and Ukraine specifically are adjusted for the impact
of war. Due to the unusual economic situation in Russia (including sanctions, currency controls etc) the
market size has been reduced to reflect a truer idea of the USD value rather than the nominal local currency
value.
Note on COVID-19: The effect of the coronavirus pandemic has led to forecasts in many markets being
altered away from long term historic trends based on the impact of COVID on specific markets and
geographies. Historic trend data continues to be used to forecast the longer-term development of these
markets.

Research Methodology
The Business Research Company’s reports are based on the methodology below.

Data

Our datasets are created using a wide range of proprietary and public sources including leading government
bodies, associations, trade journals, market intelligence reports and trade magazines. Data is modelled based
on hard data, extrapolation, regression analysis based on known macro data inputs, interpolation between
hard figures, comparisons with other geographies and markets, price estimations, and qualitative inputs.
Data is triangulated within our unique market data model covering an exhaustive list of 200+ markets across
12 countries and 5 regions. Comparable data is used for sanity check and trend analysis. For example our
global market value data is compared to unit sales and price data for the relevant market as well as relevant
macro-economic datasets in order to establish validity.

Market Numbers-

Market value is defined as the revenues earned by organizations for products and services within the specified
market. The break down by geography is revenue generated within the specific industry by organizations in
the specified geography, irrespective of where they are produced.

Competitor Market Share Data

The competitor market share data is intended to represent the companies that gain the most revenues from
the given market and the percentage share of the market that they hold. If a company derives most of its
revenues from the market, its revenues are given in full. If a large part of the company's revenues come from
other markets, only the division of the company which operates in this market is included. Where accurate
information is not available on the revenues a company generates from the market its market share is not
included, however a profile of the company may still be included if it is a significant competitor in the market.
