THE BROKEN MIRROR

I decided to move into this house, five months ago. Initially, I was very
happy the place was pretty, and my neighbors were very quiet, and I really
appreciate it because I need silence when I´m studying for my exams.

But one evening, after work and some cups of relaxing tea I was about to
head to bed.

When I was putting my pajamas on, I spied something in the mirror, the big
mirror that I usually use to choose my outfits before work. I seemed to see the
silhouette of a person. I was afraid, very afraid, so I turned on the light of the
room, but there was nothing.

At the next morning I considered mentioning it to my best friend, but that

would be to give it a lot of importance, so I kept it to myself. Despite that I
couldn’t avoid feeling uneasy so decided to turn the mirror.

That night as I went to bed and could feel myself drifting off to sleep, I
heard a noise from the bathroom. I considered going there to check, but I was
very afraid and too tired to do anything about it, so I called my best friend, and I
asked her if I could go to sleep with her. It was silly and cowardly of me, but I
couldn't do anything else. I returned to the house the next day after work and I
couldn´t avoid not going to the bathroom so I took courage and turned on the
light, but everything seemed to be in order.

Then just after I had felt calm as everything seemed to be fine the mirror of
my bedroom just fell and broke into a thousand pieces. I never believed in bad
luck, but after that day, my life changed forever.
