PHASE 1: INSPIRATION
BODY LANGUAGE
Utilizing appropriate body language, maintaining eye contact,
and displaying facial expressions can increase your understanding
and foster deeper engagement. This upholds in comprehending
the experiences, requirements, and wishes of the individual you're
designing for.
INTERVIEW
Interviews are at the heart of the Inspiration phase. Engaging
directly in conversation is the most effective way to garner insight
into the hopes, desires, and aspirations of those you're designing
for.
GROUP INTERVIEW
These are conducted to ensure everyone's perspectives are
being heard, gather diverse opinions, and carefully consider the
composition of the group.
EXPERT INTERVIEW
Consulting with experts can provide rapid and in-depth
knowledge on a subject, offering essential insights into pertinent
history, context, and innovations.

PHASE 1: INSPIRATION
PHOTO JOURNAL
This is a direct and visual method to gain insight into someone's
daily life. It also empowers individuals to share their own stories.
CONVERSATION STARTERS
This technique aims to elicit reactions and initiate discussions. It
involves presenting various ideas related to a central theme to the
people you're designing for and observing their responses.

PHASE 1: INSPIRATION
ANALOGOUS INSPIRATION
To gain a fresh perspective in your research, shift your focus
to a different context. This approach helps you isolate specific
elements from an experience, interaction, or product and apply
them to your current design challenge.
COLLAGE
Asking the individuals you're designing for to create and explain
a collage can provide insight into their values and thought
processes.
CARD SORT
This is a quick and effective way to stimulate conversation
about what matters most to the people you're designing for. By
presenting a deck of cards, each with a word or image, and asking
them to rank them in order of preference, you can gain valuable
insights.
GUIDED TOUR
Conducting a guided tour through the person's home or
workplace can reveal their habits and values more effectively than
a casual street conversation. This method is particularly useful
when conducting field research.
DRAW IT
Creating a quick sketch, graph, or timeline can bridge language
barriers and serve as a visual record of your research. It also helps
the person you're designing for organize their thoughts and can
stimulate ideas and discussions in a unique way.

PHASE 1: INSPIRATION
RESOURCE FLOW
By organizing and visualizing how a person or family manages
their finances, you can gain insights into income sources,
expenditures, and opportunities for greater efficiency in the
system.
BUILD A TEAM
Assembling a diverse team of thinkers, makers, and doers with
various skills is essential for tackling any design challenge
effectively.

PHASE 1: INSPIRATION
SECONDARY RESEARCH
In complex challenges, you may need more context, history, or
data than what a casual interview can provide. Engaging in
secondary research through online sources, books, or data
analysis can help you ask informed questions.
RECRUITING TOOLS
Before engaging with the individuals you're designing for, it's
crucial to plan who to talk to, what to ask, and what information to
gather. This ensures a balanced representation of experts and
individuals with different backgrounds, behaviors, beliefs, and
perspectives.
PHASE 1: INSPIRATION
IMMERSION
Immerse yourself in the lives and communities of the people
you're designing for. The Inspiration Phase emphasizes connecting
with them in person, where they live and work, to truly understand
their perspectives and experiences.

PHASE 2: IDEATION
HOW DO I MAKE A
PROTOTYPE?
HOW MIGHT WE
Use the "How Might We" format to suggest that solutions are
possible and to encourage a variety of potential responses.
JOURNEY MAP
This tool helps you pinpoint and plan for crucial moments in
the product, experience, or service you're designing. It provides a
structured approach to consider the customer's experience with
your solution.
RAPID PROTOTYPING
A highly effective method to transform ideas into tangible
prototypes, facilitating learning through hands-on creation and
swiftly obtaining vital feedback from the intended users.
STORYBOARD
By visually mapping out components of your product or
service, you can gain significant insights. This process not only
aids in refining your concept but also unveils who will use it, where,
and how. The aim is to create a rough representation to help refine
the idea.

PHASE 2: IDEATION
HOW DO I MAKE A
PROTOTYPE?
ROLE PLAY
A fast and tangible way to test an idea or experience is to take on
different roles and act it out. Role-playing serves as a type of
prototype that is relatively simple to construct and allows you to
quickly present an idea, experience, or product to the intended
audience.
GUT CHECK
Generate numerous ideas, brainstorm, and discuss how to
develop them further. Some ideas may be set aside, while core
concepts are retained. Prioritize the most promising ideas for
further development.
GET FEEDBACK
Share what you've created to gather a range of reactions
and capture potential users' perspectives. This step is crucial for
pushing ideas forward.
PHASE 2: IDEATION
FIND THEMES
Condense ideas and search for recurring patterns among
categories. Rearrange and refine until satisfied with the best idea
for the design.

PHASE 2: IDEATION
BRAINSTORM RULES
Generate as many diverse ideas as possible while maintaining
focus on the topic. Gradually build towards identifying the most
promising ones.
BUNDLE IDEAS
Rearrange ideas to form more intricate solutions and begin
clustering components. Contemplate how the most effective
elements can coexist within a comprehensive solution.
CREATE A CONCEPT
Continue refining ideas until they crystallize into a defined
concept. Transition from identifying problems to generating viable
solutions and beyond.
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
These are fundamental guidelines for creating user-friendly
and enjoyable designs, representing the accumulated wisdom of
researchers in the field of design.
CREATE FRAMEWORKS
Establish visual structures that assist in organizing information
and ideas related to a problem, enabling more effective work on
the design.

MASH-UPS
Combine and layer ideas with real-world examples to enhance
the quality of the design you're working on.
TOP FIVE
Group each researcher's top five ideas, then refine and
prioritize them to evolve the design.
BRAINSTORM
Engage in expansive brainstorming sessions to draw from a
wide knowledge base and generate a multitude of ideas, adhering
to the established brainstorming rules.

PHASE 3: IMPLEMENTATION
HOW DO I ASSESS IF MY
SOLUTION IS WORKING?
DEFINE SUCCESS
Develop a project timeline to identify critical milestones for the
solution and establish a clear vision of what success entails.
LIVE PROTOTYPING
Stress-test your solution in real-world scenarios to further
refine and develop it.

sustainable revenue for the design.
ROADMAP
Provide a structured timeline to guide researchers and
establish key milestones for the project.
SUSTAINABLE REVENUE
Implement strategies to sustain the design and ensure its
long-term success, with a well-developed partnership being a
critical component.
CAPABILITIES QUICKSHEET
Assess the feasibility of the solution to determine where
additional resources or expertise may be needed.
CREATE A PITCH
Refine and articulate your ideas for presentations, effectively
conveying the design to various stakeholders.
FUNDING STRATEGY
Secure initial funding to launch the design into the real world,
focusing on short-term financial approaches while considering long-
term sustainability.

ROADMAP
DEFINE SUCCESS
Mental illness is growing increasingly frequent, but many people are
still misinformed about it. The stigma associated with mental illness
prevents people from seeking help when they need it and discourages
others from obtaining treatment for themselves. Given the importance of
mental health in all aspects of one's life, it is critical to protect and
develop psychological wellness through suitable measures.
