and displaying facial expressions can increase your understanding
and foster deeper engagement. This upholds in comprehending
the experiences, requirements, and wishes of the individual you're
designing for.

THE FIVE WHYS

This is a valuable approach for delving into a person's beliefs
and motivations. By repeatedly asking "why" after a question, you
can dig out the underlying motivations and assumptions driving a
person's behavior.

INTERVIEW
Interviews are at the heart of the Inspiration phase. Engaging
directly in conversation is the most effective way to garner insight
into the hopes, desires, and aspirations of those you're designing
for.

GROUP INTERVIEW
These are conducted to ensure everyone's perspectives are
being heard, gather diverse opinions, and carefully consider the
composition of the group.

PHASE 1: INSPIRATION

HOW DO YOU CONDUCT

AN INTERVIEW?

EXTREMES & MAINSTREAMS

When selecting individuals to interview, target both the broad
mainstream and those at the extremes of the spectrum. Ideas
tailored for extreme users are likely to benefit the majority. Failing
to understand the needs of those on the fringes of your solution
will hinder the development of solutions that cater to everyone.
Moreover, conversing with extreme users can ignite your creativity
by exposing you to unique scenarios, innovative approaches, and
design possibilities that you may not have considered otherwise.

This is a quick and effective way to stimulate conversation
about what matters most to the people you're designing for. By
presenting a deck of cards, each with a word or image, and asking
them to rank them in order of preference, you can gain valuable
insights.

GUIDED TOUR
Conducting a guided tour through the person's home or
workplace can reveal their habits and values more effectively than
a casual street conversation. This method is particularly useful
when conducting field research.

DRAW IT
Creating a quick sketch, graph, or timeline can bridge language
barriers and serve as a visual record of your research. It also helps
the person you're designing for organize their thoughts and can
stimulate ideas and discussions in a unique way.

SECONDARY RESEARCH
In complex challenges, you may need more context, history, or
data than what a casual interview can provide. Engaging in
secondary research through online sources, books, or data
analysis can help you ask informed questions.

HOW DO I KEEP PEOPLE AT THE

CENTER OF MY RESEARCH?

RECRUITING TOOLS
Before engaging with the individuals you're designing for, it's
crucial to plan who to talk to, what to ask, and what information to
gather. This ensures a balanced representation of experts and
individuals with different backgrounds, behaviors, beliefs, and
perspectives.

PEERS OBSERVING PEERS

By observing how the community documents their lives, you
gain valuable insights. Empowering the people you're designing for

INSPIRING STORIES

UTILIZING HOBBIES AS STRESS RELIEF

During the interview, a college student shared that utilizes

their hobbies, such as songwriting, to express their feelings and
cope with stress. They find out that using this kind of activity
provides an outlet for emotional expression. The process of writing
songs turned into a Deep relaxation that calmed both their mind
and soul. in the busy world of college, with all the deadlines,
exams, and everyday stress, which is harmful to our mental well-
being. This student found a way to deal with their problem and
make herself feel better. She loves making music and writing
songs to ease their minds and express their problems through
writing, It was like her own form of therapy. This story shows us
that even in the middle of a stressful academic journey, there are
ways to find peace and healing and doing things we love, like
singing, dancing, gaming, or any other hobbies can have a deep
impact on our mental well-being, helping us find inner peace and
emotional balance. It encourages all of us to explore our own
creative outlets to manage stress and take care of our mental
health.

INSPIRING STORIES

SUPORT SYSTEMS IN UNIVERSITIES

Most of the interviewees recommended the guidance center

as a valuable support system for addressing any academic
challenges and mental problems the student faces. Many have
shared stories that the University’s guidance center has been their
go-to place whenever students need help.

Aside from professionals, the guidance center also has peer

consultation in which they ask student volunteers to give advice
and listen to what other students are facing right now. This is very
helpful to all because students feel less pressured talking to peers
thinking that there is a shared understanding that is comforting
and supportive. It is also more accessible because students are
more likely to reach out to a peer before seeking a professional.

The guidance office also proved to be more than just a place

to get quick answers from because aside from understanding with
each student personally, they also offer advice tailored to each
student’s unique situation.

The importance of this story is a reminder to all that help is

always available to all, all you need to do is just ask. I know that
many students may hesitate to speak to anyone for reasons like
fear or judgement, but let us break the stigma and encourage
more people to seek help is first step in overcoming these issues.
In promoting this idea, it teaches us that taking care of one’s
mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical
health.

INSPIRING STORIES
KIEAN GABELA

In the halls of the (CITU), a second-year Psychology student, Keian

Grabela, was navigating the ups and downs of college life. Keian's
method of handling stress was straightforward yet effective - she turned
to her hobbies. She understood that students had lives outside the
classroom, and for her, creating music through songwriting was her
escape. It allowed her to express her emotions and deal with stress.
What made her strategy work was her self-awareness. Keian believed
that personal hobbies were the best coping mechanisms because you
knew how they affected you and what results to expect. Within the
college, the guidance center played a significant role. Keian appreciated
the sense of community it offered. It wasn't just about counseling; it was
also about interaction and understanding. The center's seminars and
webinars created a supportive atmosphere. Keian also acknowledged
the impact of technology and social media on mental health. She
recognized that social media could have both positive and negative
influences, from inspiring a better life to fueling jealousy and self-doubt.
Her advice was to be mindful of what you follow and its impact. Her
personal journey through college included a transition from being an
honor student to experiencing culture shock. During this time, she
unexpectedly found support from someone who provided valuable
insights and encouragement. It taught her the power of diverse
perspectives and experiences. Keian's message was simple - you're not
alone in your struggles. There are always people willing to listen,
understand, and silently support you. The importance of community and
support couldn't be overstated. When it came to physical well-being,
Keian emphasized the significance of sleep. She understood the
importance of a well-rested mind and body for academic performance. It
was a straightforward but often overlooked strategy that had a
significant impact on her overall well-being. Keian's story was a reminder
that in the midst of the challenges of college life, there were practical
ways to manage stress, embrace personal hobbies, access support
networks, and practice mindfulness in the digital age. Her journey
illustrated that with the right approach, it was possible to navigate
college life and safeguard your mental well-being.

ROADMAP

DEFINE SUCCESS
Mental illness is growing increasingly frequent, but many people are
still misinformed about it. The stigma associated with mental illness
prevents people from seeking help when they need it and discourages
others from obtaining treatment for themselves. Given the importance of
mental health in all aspects of one's life, it is critical to protect and
develop psychological wellness through suitable measures.

Online advocacy initiatives centered on raising awareness of new

laws or organizing political and social support. Our main goal is to launch
our website in order to use it as a medium to help others, to inspire
people on how to manage their mental stress and how to maintain a good
well-being by hearing other people's perspectives on how they dealt with
their problems and how they managed and took care of it.

In terms of organizational operations, we intend to form alliances with

professionals from various fields, such as psychologists and mental
health advocates, in order to broaden our audience and assist more
people in an organization.

External measures are also considered, include advocacy

commercials regarding mental health that employ marketing to support a
specific message or cause. Nonprofit organizations, companies, and
private advocacy groups can all provide funding for advocacy
advertising.

Promoting mental health awareness can be done in a variety of methods,

but they all have one thing in common: they want to help others.

IT EXPERTS:

Develop and maintain digital platforms and tools that can facilitate
the study of mental health, such as online assessments, data
analysis systems, and secure communication platforms.

PSYCHOLOGISTS:

They possess the expertise in understanding and diagnosing

mental health conditions and provide valuable insights into the
design and implementation of research studies, ensuring that they
are ethically sound and aligned with established psychological
principles.

MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCATES:

To raise awareness and promote the study's findings and help to

disseminate research outcomes, advocate for policy changes, and
contribute to reducing the stigma associated with mental health,
ultimately leading to improved support and resources for
individuals in need.

USERS:

Involving users, such as individuals with lived experiences of

mental health challenges, is vital for gaining a comprehensive
understanding of the subject. Their input can help shape research
