of/list names of formative or summative checks, assessment for students with learning
quizzes, tests which indicate evidence of learning: differences, specifically those with 504’s
and IEP’s.
I will see how well they are sounding words out Child with an aid
when I go over their kid writing story with them.

Domain II Classroom Environment: Refer to Classroom/Behavior Management Plan

Domain III: Instruction

Motivation/Prior Knowledge:
Preparing students for the lesson: How will you activate prior knowledge, build background, or
review previous lessons?

They have been working on kid writing for 1 week by the time I do my lesson. I will introduce
kid writing and remind them of what to do. I will do a strategy called heart words to help my
students think of a topic. I will also show what I will be writing about on my heart anchor chart.
I will also remind them to use their Heggerty skills.

Materials Needed:
Pencil box
Kid writing journal

Vocabulary/ New or Review:

They will have a card that will have all of their sight words.

Sequence the Lesson:

What learning activities/strategies will you use to engage the students in the learning? What
will students do to use and apply new concepts or skills (independent practice if relevant)?
How will you monitor and guide their performance? Include relevant vocabulary. (Please use
bullets to sequence your lesson.)
• I will bring them to the carpet
• I will introduce saying “we will be doing kid writing today”
• I will say “what do we first when we start a new page in our journal” they will say “date
it”
• I will go over the day by having them help me write it on the board.
• I will tell them we need to brainstorm topics
• I will pull out my heart anchor chart
• I will say let us think of topics close to our heart they are called heart words
• I will pretend to think with my fingers on my brain
• I will say two topics I thought of are animals and recess
• I will ask them to give me 7 more
• While they are giving me topics I will say some things so they are getting excited to
write
• I will do a quick example of what I would write about, I will sound things out and show
how to write of they do not know a word
• I will tell them when they go back to their seat to grab a site word chart
• I will quickly dismiss group by group and tell them to get started
• I will grab a group of three (Luca, Lyanna, and CeCe)
• I will work with that group, as every volunteer will also have a group, to work on their
kid writing
• I will ask then ask what each person is writing about
• I will tell them when they are done drawing to tell me
• I will ask to tell me what they want to write
• When I am helping them, and they get stuck on a word I will help them stretch (sound)
the word out
• When they are done I will go over what words and sounds they got right

Closure: What will you do to bring closure to the lesson? How will you summarize this
lesson and preview the lesson that will follow?

If we have time I will have some of them share their story with the class.
If we do not have time I will have my small group share their stories to the group, or have
them read it to me once they are done and describe the picture.
