IELTS ESSAY: PINEAPPLE PROCESS
The picture shows the process of growing and making products from pineapples.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features.
The provided diagram demonstrates the construction of a simple water
filter as well as its function to produce potable water. It is noticeable
that water is treated through 5 main steps, starting with impure water
and finishing with drinkable water from the tap.

The system consists of 2 separate tanks connected with each other

through a tube. The top of the first tank is covered by a thin round lid
and its bottom half is filled with 3 layers of substances, namely, sand,
charcoal, and gravel. The second tank serves as a storage container of
filtered water with a built-in tap.

At the beginning of the process, raw water is poured into the first tank.
After that, the water goes down through the sand layer, charcoal layer,
and gravel layer in chronological order. The waste from impure water
is trapped within the given layers, enabling the process of removing
impurities from water. Subsequently, filtered water is transferred to
the second tank for storing purpose through a conduit. At this stage,
water is ready for use and can be dispensed by using the tap.(183 words)

The provided diagram illustrates the process of producing potable

water from rainwater in an Australian town. Overall, the production of
drinking water involves five main steps, beginning with the collection
of rainwater and ending with the distribution of purified water to
families.
At the beginning of the process, rainwater is channeled to the pipe
system built under the roofs through the drains. In the subsequent
step, a water filter is used to get rid of the dirt and filth. Once the
unwanted pollutants are eliminated, the water is moved into a huge
container for the purpose of storing.

The process continues with the stored water being channeled to

another rectangular container where it is treated with chemicals.
During the process, the rainwater is transformed into drinkable water.
Finally, the clean water produced from the previous stage is pumped
into the water system of residents’ houses to be used.

With two eyes sparkling in the sun, two arms leaning against the handlebars,
and the shoulder soaked in sweat, the strong-minded, remarkable Lance Armstrong
is heading for the finish line of the Tour de France 2009. He is an American
professional road racing cyclist, who is famous not only for his successive
achievements in cycling career but also for his vigorous life-or-death struggle with
cancer. He is, therefore, my great consideration that I desire to meet in person
someday and ask a question: “What compelled you, as well as all of us, to live strong
in this world?” That question somehow has become our obsession because in any
circumstances, we really want to find our strength to overcome difficulties, get on in
life and live in good mood.

It seems to me that Lance Armstrong’s efforts to battle cancer are beyond my

comprehension. Even though he was diagnosed stage-three cancer and faced the
tendency of rapid metastasis, he dealt with difficulties bravely and looked on the
bright side to seize his survival. Having undergone major surgeries and
chemotherapy, Armstrong had a spontaneous remission of the disease in addition to
staging a comeback to international racing. In reality, for most of us, making a
miracle recovery from physical and mental breakdown is not as easy as we expect. By
nature, many people are inclined to dejection, which then leading them to commit
suicide, depress them with stresses and strains or object to accept the painful truth,
for example. Thus, in a topsy-turvy world, we are filled with the longing for following
Lance Armstrong’s attitudes towards our ups and downs.

Moreover, besides sickness and sorrow, we are also discouraged by our

unfulfilled ambitions. So hard it is to realize and accomplish our dreams. We
sometimes look like robots, who don’t know the reasons for our doings and what
targets we are setting in our life. For instance, many youngsters lack self-motivation
and self-confidence so that they neglect their study, quit their jobs, refuse their
responsibilities and depend on other people. In other words, they let everyday pass
by meaninglessly and feel helpless whenever they encounter failure. Looking up to
people such as Armstrong, they wonder how he reaches the apex of his career and
become an outstanding cyclist.

Another thing is maintaining our sense of humour and happiness is quite

challenging. Not everyone can light up his or her face with smiles and the feelings of
satisfaction. Some people turn into inactive in their groups, communities, in affecting
world opinion. They refuse to take part in any public activities. However, there are
many activists, including Lance Armstrong, who devote their time and energy to
make contributions for charity. Lance is racing for 2009 Tour de France for no salary
as to raise fund and awareness of the global cancer burden.

Therefore, to shed a light on our mad world, the question rising above is
familiar with us, but it always requires thoughtful and attentive answers. In all senses
of words, Lance Armstrong is the most suitable person who could please us with his
exemplary answer to that question because he may have learned valuable lessons
withdrawn from his own life.
